In this lesson we’re going to talk about using “have” in questions. So, “have” isn’t the only way to pronounce this word in questions. In fact the most common way to pronounce it is in its weak form like /əv/

So, a question like “Have you seen the new Batman movie?”, might sound like “Have/əv/ you seen the new Batman movie?”

If you’ve been following our previous lessons, you know that “do you?” can sound like /dʒuː/ or /dʒə/

For example, the question “do you have?” can sound like “do you have/dʒuːæv/ any change for five pounds note?”

“do you have any beer?” “do you have any money?”

So the way you pronounce it “do you have?” question, pretty much depends on the speed in which your talking. So it could vary anything from “do you have?”

/duː juː hæv/ to /də jə hæv/ to /də juː æv/ to even /dʒuː æv/

Again it just depends on the speed in which you’re talking and which word is emphasized, And we’ve talked about emphasis in the next class.
