OK. So, today I’m going to cover the four basic parts of a news story.
The first part is called the lead that’s L-E-A-D. The lead is what draws your readers into the story. two quick examples for you.
Example 1; the straight lead, to men have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries…
An example 2, the anecdotally, Dolores Calvo’s insurance will replace the laptop and other items recently burgled from her apartment, but the policy doesn’t cover peace of mind. The 29-year-old graduate student only half jokes blob Loblaw
Okay, after the lead comes what’s called the nut graph. This is the second part of a new story.
Here were told the stories significance, why we should care about this story? all right.
Okay. The third part of a news story is the body. The body is where sources are quoted and more details are provided. The body is also where if necessary, back story comes in
