1) There was a big fire. In order to cover the story adequately, the reporter talked to many people and was able to verify that the information she had was accurate.

2) Principles of good journalism were compiled by a committee of journalists. They gathered ideas from thousands of journalists around the world.

3) Many TV reporters covered the World Cup; you could find broadcasts on every station.

4) The reporter had strong ethics. When her coworker told her that he’d made up part of a news story to make it more interesting, she told the manager.

5) There are multiple places to find out what’s going on: TV, radio, the Internet, newspapers, and so on.

6) Alberto was an objective reporter. His story included only facts about the crime, not his opinion of who did it.

7) Journalists have an obligation to keep the public informed about what the government does; that’s their job.

8) A new paradigm for journalism is developing as more and more people use electronic media to get their news.

9) We can stay informed by following both professional journalists and ordinary citizens who write blogs.

10) The underlying principles of good journalism are the same for newspapers, magazines, Internet news sites, and blogs.
