متن انگلیسی درس

I was legless.

I ain’t got the foggiest. what happened?

Do you know what I mean?

Yeah. Alright let’s get a wriggle on. We ain’t got all day.

Alright today me and my friend Amy are gonna show you how to talk like a true Londoner.

When you talk like a true Londoner, you gotta change some sounds.

For example, we don’t use Hs

so, Here, Who

sound like:

Here, Who

Also Ts are glottal. So for example: “Fit” sounds like: Fit

Some TH sounds, sound like Fs.

For example in words like:

Nothing

And some sound like Vs, for example in words like:

We should be together

“Together”! Exactly!

And if you wanna talk like a true Londoner, you have to change some words.

For example, Aimee, what happened last night?

I was legless.

You was what?

Legless.

Legless means “very drunk”. I just liked to have fun. If you don’t believe someone, you can say this:

That’s Bollock!

If you’re really tired, you can say this, “I am— shattered

If you don’t have the energy, you don’t want to do something, you say this:

Can’t be bothered

When you want someone to hurry up you can say this:

Get a wriggled on

When you don’t understand anything at all, say this:

I ain’t got the foggiest

Remember that “Ain’t” can mean “Have not” and it can mean “Be not”.

I ain’t got a fella or nothing, do you know that?

And we don’t say “Pounds”. What do we say, Amy?

Quid

That’s right.

Who are “The Old Bill”?

Old bill

That’s right.

You’re pretty fit, do you know that?

“Fit” means “Good-looking” or “attractive”.

Pretty gorgeous yourself, love!

How do you say “I got arrested by the police”?

I got nicked by the old bill

I’m trying to chat you up Jason, do you know what I mean?

Chat up, that means to talk to someone in a flirtatious way in order to get with him.

We’re gonna have a little tiff.

A tiff is when two people, usually romantically involved, have a little argument, a little disagreement.

Could also say “Have a barney”.

It’s all gone, pear shaped.

When something goes pear shaped, it means the plan is not working. It’s going wrong.

It’s all gone tits up, do you know what I mean?

Do you know what I mean?

Do you know what I mean?

Do you know what I mean?

Innit, Aimee?

I’m off, babe.

Spot on, love!

Yeah, I’m off, too. I’ll give you a bell later, we’ll get a pint or something, yeah? No?
