Okay, well, can we start with a simple question? What are biofuels? Their kinds of fuel that are made from plants such as palm oil trees or sugarcane. And why do we need them? Because fossil fuels like oil and gas are running out. Also, a lot of greenhouse gases are produced by fossil fuels. People think that biofuels are cleaner. And what are they used for? For most of the things that fossil fuels are used for. Cars, the heating and things like that, mostly cars at the moment. I see, so does that mean that biofuels are better for the environment? No, there are big problems with them. What sort of problems? Well, basically, land is needed to grow the plants and at the moment most of that land is used for other things. I see. What sort of things? Two things. Firstly, a lot of the land is used for food. If it’s used for producing biofuels. There won’t be enough for growing food for people and animals. And the second thing? Forests rainforests are often destroyed to provide land. Trees are cut down, or often just burnt down. Animals are killed and people are driven away. So you’re against biofuels. Yes, they aren’t the answer to climate change. In fact, they create more problems for the environment. Thank you.
