1. Megan: Joshua, hello there! How lovely to see you! Haven’t seen you for ages!

Joshua: Megan, hi! Urn, you’re right, must be, oh, I don’t know, five years? Saw you last at that Rome conference, didn’t I?

M: Oh gosh, yes. I’d forgotten about that. So, what have you been doing lately?

J: Well, the company moved me to head office in Seattle and then moved me right back again. So, not sure where I’ll be next year. Look, I really gotta go, but, no, let’s … let’s meet for a proper talk, shall we? I’ll give you a call - very soon OK?

1. Boss: Come in, Nathan, I want you to meet someone.

Er, Jack, do you know Nathan Oliver, our new marketing assistant? Jack Bennett, Nathan Oliver.

Jack/Nathan: How do you do?

Boss: Jack’s our Head of Production, Nathan. I think he was on holiday when you were being interviewed. That’s why you haven’t met before.

Now, er, let’s sit down and have a chat about this idea of yours, Nathan. I think Jack will be very interested in it. Go on, Nathan.

N: Oh, well, um, you see, Mr Bennett, I was on the phone the other day to one of our best customers and, er, and he said why don’t we …

1. Emma: Rebecca, hi, here I am!

Rebecca: Where have you been, Emma? I’ve been waiting here in the rain for ages!

E: Oh, so sorry I’m late - I got stuck in a traffic jam. The bus just didn’t move at all!

R: Why didn’t you get out and walk?

E: It was miles away! But I really am sorry. Why didn’t you wait inside? You’re terribly wet!

R: Because you got the times wrong! The cinema’s closed, that s why!

It doesn’t open for another half an hour!

1. Man 1: That was really delicious, wasn’t it?

Man 2: Mmm, yes. We must come here again. Great to catch up on all the news like this.

M1: Absolutely. Now, remember -come and stay with us any time. My parents would love to see you.

M2: Ah, that is kind. I certainly will. Look, I’ll just call the waiter and pay the bill.

M1: No, no, it’s my turn to pay! You paid last time, remember? I insist.

M2: Oh well, thanks very much! I did enjoy it.
