Ready to go over the culture shock notes?

Yeah I’m really glad were going over this together I think I missed one of the stages there are four right?

Yeah that’s what I have here it’s excitement first and then rejection.

Yep. Then acceptance third.

Right, so excitement, rejection and acceptance.

That stage feels so good.

How do You know?

Well in high school I spent a year living in Sapporo Japan.

No way, that’s so cool. Wait where is Sap Sap.

Sapporo? Yeah, I heard about that, it’s in the north, right?

Right, It snowed so much the winter that I was there and that’s actually what helped me.

what do you mean?

Well I love to ski and so I ended up making two really good Japanese friends through skiing.

So that’s how you began to accept the culture?

Exactly what about you?

What’s your experience here been like?

Well, I feel I like have pass through all four stages by now.

Oh, that’s the one I missed the fourth one, what is it?

It’s acculturation, yeah I can truthfully say that I am acculturated I enjoy the host culture but I mean like so keep my home culture right here.

That’s great. I mean it must have been hard at first to get acculturated.
