Will Jim ever be freed?

Darren Hello again. I’m Darren. Last time I told you about Huckleberry Finn, who has run away from his violent father, and is travelling up the Mississipi River with an escaped slave called Jim.

The boys’ adventures continue until Jim is recaptured and locked in a hut. Huck is determined to help him escape and together with his friend Tom Sawyer, they come to his rescue - but things don’t go to plan, and something far worse is yet to come .

They discover that Jim is about to be executed - Huck and Tom find him just in time and Tom declares that Jim has saved his life. Also, it comes to light that Miss Watson, Jim’s owner, has died and in her will she has freed him, so Jim is no longer a slave. Jim’s life is saved - but what about Huck’s mean old father? It turns out that he has already died - so there’s nothing to worry about there. And there’s better news - Huck still has all the money he had found earlier so maybe it’s time for him to start behaving like a good, rich boy…? But that doesn’t come naturally to him - there are still plenty of adventures to have.
