متن انگلیسی درس

Hi this is AJ, and welcome to Part B, Interactive Part B. Same one, same essay, but this time I’m going to ask you some questions. I’m going to go through it again, you just need to listen and I’ll ask some very, very easy questions about some of the words and phrases. You need to answer the questions loudly and quickly, as quickly as possible; speed, speed, focus on speed.

However, you can answer with just one or two words. These are easy questions so just say yes, no or a very short word or phrases, short answers are fine, just try to do it quickly and with energy. Here we go.

Jiu Jitsu will make you happy. This is another reason to make sure you get to that training session. Jiu Jitsu will make you happy and that’s a fact. Researchers and scientists who have been looking into the science of happiness and have come to the conclusion that the happiness hormone is something called ‘Dopamine’. Dopamine is technically a neurotransmitter.

What is dopamine?

A neurotransmitter.

Is dopamine technically a hormone?

No, no, technically it’s not a hormone actually, accurately, scientifically, technically dopamine is not a hormone.

Technically dopamine is what?

A neurotransmitter.

Dopamine is generally a neurotransmitter?

No, not generally.

Technically, specifically, accurately, scientifically, dopamine is a what?

Neurotransmitter, neurotransmitter.

Dopamine makes sure the signals in your brain at the appropriate times.

Does it guarantee that the signals fire correctly?

Yes, it guarantees. It makes sure the signals fire correctly. What makes sure that the signals in your brain fire correctly?

Dopamine makes sure, guarantees that the signals in your brain fire correctly.

So dopamine makes sure that the signals in your brain are passive, right?

No, no not that the signals are passive, that they fire, that they activate, that they start at the appropriate times.

The more you can get the dopamine to light your brain up the more happiness you tend to feel.

Do you want the dopamine to light your brain up or to relax your brain?

Well, he’s saying you want the dopamine to light your brain up, to activate your brain.

Does dopamine activate your brain?

Does it light up your brain?

Or, does it make your brain sleepy?

Dopamine lights your brain up. It excites your brain. It activates your brain.

What lights your brain up?

Dopamine. Dopamine lights your brain up? Which transmitter lights your brain up, which neurotransmitter lights your brain up? Dopamine; dopamine lights your brain up, it excites your brain, activates your brain.

So, what makes your brain create dopamine?

Well, real happiness isn’t the short-term smiley feeling we feel when someone buys us something, like a gift. That is more of a fleeting bliss or euphoria.

So that is more of a what, what kind of bliss?

A fleeting bliss.

What is a fleeting bliss?

What creates a fleeting bliss?

Receiving a gift or something like that.

Does fleeting mean permanent or temporary?

Temporary; very temporary, very short-term, fleeting.

So a fleeting bliss is what kind of happiness short-term or long-term?

Short term. Very, very, very short-term, so what kind of happiness is super short-term, very, very temporary?

A fleeting bliss or euphoria, a fleeting euphoria.

Does euphoria mean pain?

No, no, no, no not pain it’s the opposite. Euphoria is pleasure, intense pleasure. So what is intense pleasure?

Euphoria; intense pleasure is euphoria.

A great pleasurable feeling we call what?

That’s right, euphoria.

So this scientific study looked at something more permanent, long-term happiness. The scientists have realized that to get that dopamine moving, we can do several things; three in fact.

  1. Engage in a physical activity that raises the heartrate.

Do you want to avoid physical activity that raises the heartrate?

No, no you don’t want to avoid that activity, you want to what?

Engage in, engage in that activity. You want to engage in a physical activity that raises your heartrate.

So do you want to do it or avoid it?

Do it, you want to do that activity. You want to engage in that activity. You want to do it.

  1. Learn new skills that test us and keep our brain active.
  2. Spend time with friends and family, have a sense of community, a feeling of community.

These are the three main things that can help us live a long and happy life.

So, does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have some of those elements, some of those parts, some of those three things?

So what is connected to the heart, related to the heart? What’s the word?

Cardio.

Point Two- we need to keep learning new skills in Jiu Jitsu, where everyone gets a handle on our game.

Will everybody figure out our game, our techniques in Jiu Jitsu?

Yes, they will. Everyone you train with will eventually figure out your game. They will understand your game, your strategies, your techniques.

They will get a what, on your game?

Handle, they’ll get a handle on your game.

To get a handle on - means to understand, to figure out.

So everyone at your gym, at your school, at your academy will get a handle on your game.

If everyone gets a handle on your game, will you be better than them or will you get passed?

You’ll get passed. You will get passed by everyone else. If everyone gets a handle on your game you will get passed by everyone else, unless you learn more and improve more.

Point three– The academy is a great place to have a good time and enjoy yourself and make friends.

Even in a tournament environment, once the war is over all I see are people hugging and shaking hands. It’s the safest cure for depression this side of a Prozac infusion.

So which is stronger, a Prozac tea or Jiu Jitsu?

Well maybe Prozac, a Prozac tea, a Prozac infusion is stronger. But, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is umber two. It’s the safest cure for depression this side of a Prozac infusion. . So it’s the safest cure for what, this side of a Prozac infusion?

It’s the safest cure for depression.

What is the safest cure for depression this side of a Prozac infusion, a Prozac tea?

Jiu Jitsu is the safest cure for depression.

This side of – means next to, other than a Prozac infusion.

So, is Jiu Jitsu a great cure for depression?

Yes~ Jiu Jitsu is a super powerful cure for depression.

The Buddhists refer to happiness as inner peace. This is what Jiu Jitsu creates through the testament of the body.

Does Jiu Jitsu create inner peace through the mind, through the testament of the mind only?

No, not only through activity and proof of the mind.

But what, through the testament of what?

The body. Though the evidence of, the activity of the body.

Jiu Jitsu creates what through the testament of the body?

Inner peace. Jiu Jitsu creates inner peace through the testament of the body, the evidence of, the activity of, the body. The communication of the body. The use of the body. The testament of the body.

Steel sharpens steel. Iron sharpens iron. And what if you can’t train? This happens when you get an injury or are sick or just miss the class due to traffic and you feel bad. It’s a genuine low feeling, lack of dopamine. When this happens I still go along to the academy from time to time to check on my teammates.

He goes to the academy, even when injured, to check on his teammates.

The members of his what team?

Teammates are members of your team.

He says even that term, that phrase, teammates, team friends, team partners, makes us close and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a whole completely, could not be closer.

Could the Jiu Jitsu community be even closer than now?

No, he says they cannot. They could not be closer they are as close as possible.

He says, I’ve never engaged in another sport everyone gets together, competes and celebrates so much.

I’ve never what, another sport?

Engaged in. Again this phrase. Engaged in means done, participated in.

He’s never what, in another sport, where everyone gets, competes and celebrates so much.

He’s never what?
