Good Fight VIP – POV
Hello and welcome to the grammar point of view stories. Let’s get started.
Okay, same story, different points of view, different grammar.
So, Johnny loves drinking tea. He loves drinking tea and so one day he is sitting with his mom and his mom asks him, “Johnny, what’s the best tea in the world?” Johnny thinks and he thinks and then he says, “I don’t know.” And so he decided to travel the world.
He decides to travel the world and find the best tea.
First, he goes to England and in England he meets the Queen of England and he drinks tea with her. While they are drinking tea together he asks her, “Queen, what’s the best tea in the world?” The Queen of England says, “Go to India. All the best tea comes from Darjeeling in India.”
Well, next, he goes to Darjeeling, India and one day he meets a holy man sitting under a tree sipping tea. Johnny sits with him and they drink together and they meditate together, ohm. They say “ohm”.
While they are sitting and meditating the holy man says “Darjeeling black tea is the best, but China has the most aromatic tea.” So, Johnny thanks him and gets up and next he goes to China and there he meets a man named Pai Mae, a wise and very tough master.
Pai Mae says to him, “If you fight me and win, I’ll tell you the secret of the best tea in the world.” And so they fight and they fight and they fight and they fight and they fight and they fight and they fight for 29 days. And on the 29th day, while they are fighting, Pai Mae says, “You have passed the test. Go to Kyoto, Japan. Go to the Silver Temple there and you will find the strongest and healthiest tea in all of the world.” So, he bows to Pai Mae. He thanks him and he goes to Kyoto, Japan and in Kyoto he finds the Silver Temple and he drinks tea there with the monks. And Pai Mae, of course, was correct. He lives to be 1,000 years old because the tea is so strong and so healthy.
And that’s the end of our first version. Obviously, in that version it’s happening now. It’s as if we are coming with Johnny on his trip as its happening. That’s version number one.
The next version…
Since he was young, Johnny has always loved drinking tea. He has always loved it.
Johnny has always loved drinking tea since he was young. It started when he was young and it has continued all the way until recently. In fact, when he was young, he would always drink tea every day and he has continued drinking tea every day since then. It started when he was young and he has continued until recently; until now, in fact.
Well, one day when he was 17, he drank tea with his mom and his mom asked him, “What’s the best tea in the world?” And Johnny said, “I don’t know.” And so Johnny decided to travel the world and find the best tea. First, he went to England and he met the Queen and he drank tea with her. He drank tea with her and then he asked her, “What’s the best tea in the world?” And the Queen said, “Go to India. All the best tea comes from India. It all comes from Darjeeling.”
So, next he went to Darjeeling, India and one day he met a holy man who was sitting under a tree and the holy man was sipping tea. Well, Johnny sat with him and they drank together and they meditated and then Johnny asked the holy man, “What’s the best tea?” And the holy man said “Darjeeling tea is the best, but China has the most aromatic tea.”
And so Johnny went to China next and he met a man named Pai Mae, a wise tough master. Pai Mae said, “If you fight me and win, I’ll tell you the best tea in the world.” So, they fought and they fought and they fought and they fought for 29 full days and on the 29th day Pai Mae said to him, after they fought, “You have passed the test. Go to Kyoto, Japan now. Go to Kyoto, Japan and find the Silver Temple. At the Silver Temple you’ll find the strongest and healthiest tea in the world.” So, he went to the Silver Temple. He drank the tea and he lived to be 1,000 years old.
Now, this version two is very similar to the main story, but we don’t focus on while something was happening, right? I just said he drank the tea and then he asked. So, it’s one after the other instead of happening at the same time in the past. Don’t think about it too much. Just notice the slight differences between the main mini story and this version.
In the final version we’ll go to the future.
So, in the future there will be a guy named Johnny and Johnny will love tea. He’ll always love drinking tea all the time. And in the future, when he’s 17 years old, he’ll be drinking tea when his mom will ask him, “What’s the best tea in all of the world?” And Johnny is gonna say, “I don’t know.”
Of course, as you all know, “gonna” means going to. Gonna is the casual, normal way we use the future.
So, he’s gonna travel all over the world. He’s gonna decide to travel the world and he’s gonna’ focus on finding the very best tea. First, he’ll go to England and in England he’s gonna meet the Queen of England and he’ll drink tea with her. And in the future, while they’re drinking tea, he’s gonna ask her, “Queen, what’s the best tea in all of the world?” And she’ll say, “Go to India. All the best tea comes from Darjeeling.” So, of course, next he’ll go to Darjeeling, India and one day he’s gonna meet a holy man sitting under a tree sipping tea. So, Johnny is going to sit with him and they’ll drink together and they’ll meditate together and they’ll say, “Ohm, ohm.” While they are sitting and meditating together the holy man will say, “Darjeeling black tea is the best, but China has the most aromatic tea.”
So, of course, next Johnny is gonna go to China and there he’ll meet the famous, the tough, the wise Pai Mae. Pai Mae is gonna say, “If you fight me and win, I’ll tell you the secret of the best tea in all of the world.”
So, they’ll fight and they’ll fight and they’ll fight and they’ll fight and they’ll fight and they’ll fight for 29 full day and on the 29th day in the future, while they are fighting, Pai Mae will say, “You have passed the test. Go now to Kyoto, Japan. Find the Silver Temple, there you find the strongest and healthiest tea in the world.” So, Johnny will continue his journey and he’ll go to Kyoto, Japan and in Kyoto, Japan he’ll find the Silver Temple and there he’ll drink tea with the monks and he will live to be 1,000 years old.
And that is the end of our point of view stories for this month. I hope you enjoy them.
Just listen to them again and again and again. Focus on the changes that happen. Do not think about grammar rules. You don’t need to think about grammar rules, just notice how things change. Notice the differences, your brain will figure it out. Your brain will begin to understand it. You don’t need to worry about it and think about it or try to remember a bunch of textbook rules. Don’t worry about that, just listen and enjoy every single day.
See you again. Have a great day, bye-bye.
