Full Engagement – Audio
Hello VIP members and welcome to this months’ VIP lesson. Succeed five times faster, five times faster improvement, five times faster success in any of your life, in all parts of your life. And, at the same time, feel more alive! Feel happier and more alive. That’s our topic this month.
Recently I have been exercising a lot and I’ve been doing push-ups as part of my exercise. Push-ups, you know push-ups. Well, I was working on push-ups for a few months. I’ve been doing push-ups a long time but more recently I started using more effort to try to increase the number of push-ups I can do. And I don’t know, a few weeks I did about 30, right, 30 push-ups at one time, which is okay, it’s not bad. So I did 30 push-ups and at the end I was like ugh 28, 29, 30, right. So I thought wow, I’m really working hard. I’m really trying hard, a lot of effort. Wow, this is great my push-ups are up to 30 and I thought I was doing very well.
Well then, I started reading and also looking at some YouTube videos about exercise and about doing body weight exercises, push-ups and pull-ups and things like that. And I found this one coach and he talked about using maximum tension, maximum effort and power with every movement, with every push-up. He said, most people think they’re trying hard but really they’re not. They’re not really 100%, actually much, much less. So he taught this technique to do the push-ups but instead do them in a different way.
So when you do the push-ups you focus your mind 100%, total concentration and focus on the muscles you’re using in your chest and your arms and your whole body. Then to get your whole… emotion also into it too, right. And then, as you do the push-up to squeeze your muscles as hard as possible, as hard as possible. Maximum intensity. Maximum effort. So I thought, well, okay I’ll try it. He says that if you do this your muscles will grow much faster and our strength will grow faster, so I decided to try it.
So I thought, okay, I can do 30 push-ups let’s do it. So I got down on the floor and I started doing it using this method– grhhhh and oh my God it was so different! Using this method, maximum intensity, maximum focus, maximum effort, maximum tension in my muscles, I could only do seven, seven. After seven push-ups I was exhausted. My muscles were shaking. My whole body was exhausted. Very, very, very, very different than the other push-ups. So, in the past I could do 30 push-ups, normal push-ups but using total concentrate, total effort, maximum tension I could only do seven.
Wow! And so I realized when I started thinking about it, just looking at the numbers, the new method was four times, over four times more intense than doing the push-ups the normal way and I thought before I was doing push-ups with 100% effort, with a lot of effort. But, actually, I was only using about 25% of maximum effort, less than 25%. Wow! That was really interesting, very interesting.
So that’s why we’re talking about this month, Full Engagement, maximum engagement. Engagement is our topic this month.
What is engagement? What does this word mean?
It means involvement, involvement. It also means use, right, using something. So if you are at 50% engagement, it means you’re only using something 50%. Let’s say your mind, your focus, your mental focus, you’re trying to focus, concentrate on something, maybe listening to English. Well, if you only focus with 50% effort, with 50% of your concentration ability that’s 50% engagement. You’re only using, you’re only involving 50% of your full power.
Engagement, you’ll also hear this word engagement a lot in social media. So, for example, if you have a Facebook page and you have 10k followers you send a message, a post to 10k people and only 1000 like it, they push the like button. So only 1000 are actually doing it, right, they’re involved. So that would be like a 10% engagement. But what we’re talking about today is not social media we’re talking about ourselves, our minds, our body’s, our emotions. And full engagement or even just more engagement is the super power for faster, faster, faster success, faster, faster, faster improvement.
See, we have a problem in the modern world, a big, big problem, all of us do. We are disengaged. We’re not engaged. We’re not fully involved. We’re not fully focused. We’re not fully using our power, our potential, our energy. Everything we do is half-assed and that’s slang. Half-assed means like half effort, right. It means you do something, but not with 100%, only kind of half. Half-assing, it’s a negative. It just means you’re not trying very hard and the problem is, the big problem is we’ve become so lazy and distracted by our phones and everything else, social media, Internet, our lazy comfortable lives that we half-ass everything and we don’t even realize it, we don’t even realize it!
Like me with my push-ups, I thought I was using maximum effort. I was not even half-assing it, I was only 25%. We’re all doing this in all parts of our lives. We think we’re trying hard. We think we’re fully focused. We’re not, not even close to 100%, not even close. This is the danger that it’s this kind of distraction and laziness and disengagement, the opposite of engagement it means not using, this disengagement, this disconnection from our actions, from our daily lives. It’s this thing that comes into our lives and makes us weaker and weaker, we don’t even realize it.
You have big dreams and goals for your life that’s why you are a VIP member. That’s why you joined VIP and that’s why you come back every month. You have big dreams, big goals for your career, for your job, for your family, certainly for English, possibly for travel, for adventure, for a great amazing life. But you’re not going to get those goals by half-assing it things, by half- assing your actions, by half-assing your plans.
Full engagement however, will achieve success four or five times faster. We can use this principle of full engagement to accelerate, to speed up our success in any area of life, in English, for example. In your job or career for example, with your physical strength, fitness and health, all of these areas. But the first thing you have to do is wake up. Wake up and realize I’m not really trying 100%. I’m not really fully engaged 100%. Even when I think I’m trying hard I really am not.
Let’s talk about full engagement full power. Full engagement equals full power, full results, the fastest results possible. You see, here’s the thing, we’re always so focused on what to do, what, what, we want the perfect plan. We want the perfect method. We want the shortcut for
success, the little trick that will get us there faster, well, I’m giving it to you this month, but it’s not a method, it’s not a what? It’s not a what it’s how? It’s not so much what you do it’s how you do it. How you do it is even more important than what you do. So with English what you do, listening to the lessons every day that’s important. But it’s much, much, much more important how you listen to the lessons, how you use the lessons every month that’s where the true power is, how engaged you are. For example, as a VIP member, even though you think you’re doing well, you listen every day for an hour or more, you know what that’s only 20% engagement. Twenty percent engagement is listening every day, focusing on the listening, doing one or two hours every day, probably sitting most of the time. That’s 20% engagement that’s just normal. That’s like me with my push-ups in the beginning. You think you’re doing well but you’re only at 20% that’s the truth.
What about 50%? Fifty percent engagement would be doing the same thing, but walking, going outside walking, or even in your room walking in circles so you have more physical energy. Focusing with a lot of concentration on the lessons every day, maybe doing two or up to three hours a day. That’s still only 50%. That is only 50% engagement. That’s still only half, that’s half-assing it. What would 100% engagement be? What would it look like with the VIP lessons?
First of all, you wouldn’t just be walking like this, you would be walking with a good quick speed right, and you would have your shoulders back. You’d have a big smile on your face. You’d have your chest up and out. You would be using a lot of physical energy. You would be getting your energy higher, higher, higher, as high as possible. You might jump, shout, play some music before you listen. You would keep that physical energy very, very high the entire time, so that you’re energized. Your body would be fully engaged in the activity of learning English. Not just that though, your emotions also would be– you would get yourself into an excited, passionate, enthusiastic feeling of emotion, powerful strong emotions.
And you would keep that up the entire time you’re listening to English. When your emotions dropped, when your energy dropped you would do some kind of energy break to get them back up again and you would stay at that high level of emotional energy and power the whole time. And with your mind you would focus your mind intensely like meditation so that nothing else distracted you. You would not be kind of uhh, you wouldn’t let your mind go off and think about other things you would keep bringing it back, focused; intensely focused on the listening. Listening to the words, listening to the pronunciation carefully, listening to the emotions, listening to everything, hearing every little bit of the English.
You might be sweating even as you are learning English in my VIP program. And you would do the homework, every lesson I give you homework, I give you an action, right, because I’m teaching you more than English. So I tell you to do something in your own life and a lot of people they half-ass it. They don’t do the homework. They don’t make the changes in their lives, so they’re listening. They’re doing the lessons, but they’re not doing the life changes. That’s half-assing it that’s not full engagement.
So full engagement would be also doing that, making those changes, the psychological changes, the changes in your life and how you live and all of that together every single day, two, three, four hours that would be 100% engagement. That would be full power. You will succeed five times faster that way. You will improve your English speaking and listening five
times faster that way. You will achieve your life goals, your life dreams five times faster that way. One percent engagement every time that’s what it takes to get to the top, to get that dream life you want.
What about work, let’s say you’re working, your career. You want to make more money. Your job sucks you don’t like it so much or it’s boring. You want a promotion. You want to succeed much faster. What does it look like? Again, 20% engagement is showing up on time, coming to work on time, doing your tasks, doing your job well. So doing a good job at work and coming on time, doing what you should do that’s only 20%. So many people think that’s 100%. They think oh, I’m doing so well. I come to work on time. I do my tasks. I do a good job on all my job tasks. That means I should get more money and that means I’m 100%.
Come on that’s bear minimum that’s minimum, that’s 20%. What does 50% look like? Fifty percent would be coming to work five minutes early every day, putting extra effort into your tasks, doing an excellent job, not just good but excellent so that every task you do at work is excellent, very high quality. That’s still only 50% engagement. You might make a little more money. You might eventually get a promotion that way, but not very fast that’s still half-assing it, even though most people don’t even do that.
So what would 100% engagement look like in your job, in your career, to get that fast success? It would be showing up to work an hour early every day. It would be dressing much nicer at work, nicer than you need to, nicer than everybody else, looking sharp, professional. It would be putting, of course, extra effort into your job tasks and doing an excellent job but much more than that, it would also be looking for problems in the company, in your department, in your area, look for problems and then solve them without being asked, without being told.
If you realize there’s a problem you go you research it, you do everything you can to solve that problem, you just do it to help the company, to help your team, to help the group. Also, as part of 100% engagement you’re a team builder, so you go around every day to other people on your team, in your department, in your company you encourage them. If they do a good job you notice, hey I noticed you did a great job yesterday that’s great. You tell other people, hey yeah he did a great job yesterday, very impressive. You become this kind of team cheerleader, this kind of team leader. You inspire other people to also do a great job.
You go to your boss and you ask for more work. Most people avoid it, ahh, avoid the boss, I don’t want more work. You do the opposite, you go to your boss and say hey, I’m finished with my tasks. I found these problems. I think I can solve them. Is there anything else I can do? How can I help more? What can I do to help you more? What can I do to help the company more? Do this every week that is 100% engagement. That will shoot you up very quickly in your career, five times faster. You’ll get a lot more money. You’ll get a lot better jobs, much more respect, everything and if it doesn’t happen in your company you can jump to another company making more money with a bigger, better job.
A hundred percent engagement that is our topic this month. I’m going to tell you some very simple and specific steps to do this in the important areas of your life, that’s in the commentary.
In the interactive lessons this month we’ve got a speech from Tony Robbins. You’re gonna learn some new vocabulary and you’re gonna hear Tony talk about this topic of full engagement. See you in the other lessons. Use full engagement this month every single day. See you there.
