Lesson 41

Hello my dear friends. Welcome to lesson number forty one of 504 absolutely essential words.

Like every lesson we’re goanna teach you twelve essential words in this lesson.

We’re goanna use them in different examples and at the end we’re goanna use all of these words and different clips movies and a very nice interesting story.

If you want to learn these words I always suggest my students to make example sentences with these words.

So it will be easier for you to remember them you can always send to me your examples and I will correct you and I will help you to speak and to write better.

Okay let’s start with the first word.

The first word of this lesson is complacent. Complacent means pleased with oneself; self-sati sifted a person who is a little selfish.

As you can see in this picture of this guy is complacent he’s pleased with himself.

a. Senator Troy denounced the complacent, the complement attitude of the polluters of our air.

So we have one essential word here polluters means the people who make the air dirty. denounce here means to criticize one person.

And these are the essential words we studied in previous lesson.

b. How can you be complacent about such a menace?

Menace here means danger or threat. Yes threats.

c. I was surprised that Martin was so complacent about his brief part in the play.

This is the first essential word of lesson number forty one complacence, to be pleased completely with yourself to be selfish.

The next word is wasp. Wasp is an insect with a slender body and powerful sting.

As you can see we can call this insect this bee wasp.

a. When the wasps descended on the picnic, we ran in all directions.

We have one essential word in this sentence some doubts descend. Descend means to come down. Yes descend means to come down.

b. A swarm of wasps attacked us as we were reclining on the porch

We have two essential words here. The first one a swarm which means group and the next one is recline which means stretch out or lie down back.

We have studied all of these words in previous lessons. Guys if you cannot remember the meaning of these words or if you don’t know these words. I suggest to come back and review the previous lessons.

c. The piercing sting of a wasp can be very painful.

So let’s learn the next word and that rehabilitate, rehabilitate. Rehabilitated means restore to good condition; make over in a new forum; restore to former standing, rank and reputation etc.

So it has different meanings as you can see in this picture this woman is trying to rehabilitate maybe the other woman is leg.

The old house was rehabilitate at enormous expense.

Enormous means huge bulky something that is very large. so enormous expense means a lot of maybe money.

So the old house was restored to actually maybe to its good condition.

b. The former criminal completely rehabilitated himself and was respected by all.

c. This wing of the house must be rehabilitated promptly, as there is a danger it will collapse.

We have two essential words in this sentence promptly which means quickly or as soon as possible and the next word is collapse which means to fall down. yes fall down.

These are the words we studied in previous lessons.

The next essential world is parole.

Parole is a word of honor conditional freedom, to free a prisoner under certain conditions. Parole.

a. The judge paroled to the juvenile offenders on condition that they report to him every three months.

The essential word here is juvenile which means actually the young person and we can actually call them sometimes guilty.

Yes.

b. Since the prisoner has been rehabilitated, his family is exploring the possibility of having him paroled.

As you can see, we have one essential two essential words here explore means searching.

Rehabilitated as I told you before means to restore or come back to a good condition and possibility something that can happen.

And everybody knows the meaning of this one.

c. The fugitive gave his parole not to try to escape again.

The fugitive is a person who is escaping from one actual place or we can call it escapee. Yes escapee.

The next essential word is a vertical. Vertical means straight up and down with reference to the horizon, For example, a vertical line.

As you can see there is a vertical line here in this picture.

a. It wasn’t easy to get the drunken man into a vertical position.

b. The way to vote for your candidate is to pull that lever from the horizontal position to the vertical position.

c. As circle surrounding a vertical line that ends in an inverted Vis the well-known peace symbol.

So. So this is the essential word of this part. Vertical. And it’s pretty clear.

The next essential word is multitude. Multitude means a great number or a crowd.

As you can see in this picture there is a multitude of people. Multitude actually of people. It comes with the proposition of.

a. A multitude of letters kept pouring into the movie idol.

b. The fleeing culprit was pursued by a fierce multitude.

We have four essential words here fleeing means escaping, culprit means guilty, pursue means followed and fierce means violent.

We have studied all of these essential words in previous lessons.

All of these words are really really important.

c. Flood victims were aided by a multitude of volunteers.

The next essential word is nominate.

Nominate means name as a candidate for office; appoint to an office, to choose one person for an office. Nominate.

a. Three times Bryant was nominated for office but he was never elected.

b. The president nominated him for secretary of state.

c. Thougn Danny was nominated last, he emerged as the strongest candidates.

Emerge here means appeared and candidate is a person who is chosen for special specific position.

The next essential word is potential. Potential means possibility as opposed to actuality, Capability of coming into being or action. potential.

Or we can use the word ability as a synonym for a potential.

a. Mark has the potential he has the ability of being completely rehabilitated.

Which means restoring to good condition or coming back to his previous position condition.

b. The coach felt his team had the potential to reach the finals. The end.

c. Destroying nuclear weapons or reduces a potential threat to human survival.

The essential word here is threats which means menace or danger or and survival means living for a long timeor living longer especially after an accident or a natural disaster.

The next essential word is morgue.

Morgue is a place where bodies of unknown person found deaths are kept; the reference library of a newspaper office.

This is a second word.

The second meaning of Morgue, Morgue.

a. There is a slender chance that we can identify the body in the morgue.

In the actually place where bodies of unknown persons found dead are kept.

Slender chance means a little chance and identify means to recognize and understand something.

b. Bodies in the morgue are preserved by low temperatures.

The essential word here is preserved which means saved or kept.

c. In the morgue of the New York Times There are biographies of most famous people.

Biographies of the reading story of one person.

So here morgue mean is the reference library of a newspaper office.

Preoccupied. As you can see in this picture this woman is preoccupied.

Preoccupied means took up all the attention. When your mind is completely busy with lots of things your mind is preoccupied.

a. Getting to school in time for the test Preoccupied Judy’s mind.

b. My boss is always preoccupied with ways of cutting down on the workers’ lateness

He’s always thinking about this problem.

c. Charity cases preoccupied Mr. Reynaldo’s attention.

Charity As you know is the institute that gives money to the poor people.

the next essential word is upholstery.

Upholstery is coverings and cushions for furniture. Upholstery. The coverings and cushions for furniture.

As you can see in this picture this is upholstery.

a. Our old sofa was given new velvet upholstery.

b. The Browns’ upholstery was so new that we were wary about visiting them with the children.

Wary here means cautious and careful.

c. One hundred eighty five dollars was the estimate for changing the upholstery on the dining-room chairs.

Estimated here means the guess and we have studied this word in previous lessons.

Indifference, Indifference. Indifference means lack of interests care or attention.

A person who has no interest no attention no care.

a. Allen’s indifference to his schoolwork worried his parents.

b. It was matter of indifference to Bernie whether the story circulating about his engagement was true or not.

Circulating these distributing or going all around.

c. My father could not refrain couldn’t avoid. So my father couldn’t refrain. Refrain means avoid or stop doing something couldn’t refrain from commenting on Linda’s indifference towards her brother tears.
