Lesson 30

Hello, my dear friends.

how are you doing?

I wish everything is moving on the right track for you.

Welcome to lesson number 30 of five-four absolutely essential words.

I’m very happy that you have come this far and this lesson like other lessons I’m going to explain.

12 essential necessary words that are very common and used every word in different movies and different passages newspapers.

So guys please focus and try to understand the words, the synonyms and then the antonyms they give you and this is one of the best way to increase your English vocabularies.

let’s start with the first word of lesson number 30.

he first word these depict.

depict is a verb; and the noun is depiction.

depict means represented by drawing or painting; to represent something by drawing or painting or we can say describe.

so depict means to describe something specially by pictures or drawing.

Let’s use this word in different examples.

a. The artist and the author both tried to depict the sunset’s beauty.

Oh that’s perfect.

b. Mr. Salinger depicted the juvenile character with great accuracy.

guys as you can see we have two essential words in this sentence, the first one is juvenile; and the second one is accuracy.

Can you remember the meaning of these words?

we have a study of these words in previous lessons.

Juvenile means a young; person who is very young.

and accuracy means something that is very exact.

So let’s read this sentence in a different way.

Mr. Salinger described the young character with great maybe accuracy.

with exact maybe think.

c. Al. Pacino said he world depict a different kind of shylock.

so depict is a first word of Lesson Number 30.

Which means to describe something specially by drawing pictures and paintings.

A very nice word.

Word number two is actually mortal.

mortal

mortal is sure to die sometime; and we can say pertaining to man; deadly; or pertaining to or causing death.

So mortal is an adjective when we speak about something that is not actually permanent.

And one day it will die.

We can say this is mortal.

a. We must live with the knowledge that all living creatures are mortal.

One day everybody and everything will die.

b. His rash venture brought him to a mortal illness.

So we have some essential words here rash.

Do you know the meaning of rash?

rash means hasty or doing something in a very fast way.

c. The two monarchs were mortal enemies.

They were deadly enemies.

So guys we have one essential word here and that’s monarch.

Can you remember the meaning of monarch?

Actually monarch means king or queen.

It doesn’t actually making a difference.

We can refer to either of them.

So we call them monarch.

the next essential word is actually novel.

and I guess you guys know the meaning of novels.

So novel means something that is new; strange; a long story with characters and plot.

So this is an adjective and noun.

let’s use this word in different examples.

a. The architect created a novel design that pleased everyone.

So novel here means something that is new.

so novel design means new design.

And we have one essential word here and that’s architect

which means a person who designs buildings or building designer.

We call him and architect.

b. the novel a plan caused some unforeseen problems.

on first is an essential word in this sentence and that means unexpected or unpredicted.

that’s on first scene and I guess we studied of this word in previous lessons of word.

c. Robert was commended by his teacher for the excellent report on the American novel, The Grapes of Wrath.

So we have actually one essential word here in this sentence and that’s commend which means to praise somebody.

praise or commend.

yes, command means to praise or actually to admire somebody.

novel, So we can use it as an actually adjective; which means new or strange.

and we can use it as a noun which means a long story with characters and plot.

The next essential word is occupant.

occupant

occupant means person in position of a house, office, or position.

occupant.

Let’s use this word in different example.

This word is a noun.

a. A feeble old woman was the only occupant of the shack.

and the essential word here is feeble which means weak; person who is not strong.

b. The will disclosed that the occupant of the estate who was penniless.

he was poor, penniless.

So we have one essential word here and that is to disclose.

disclose means to reveal something; to make something known; or reveal.

c. the occupant of the car beckoned us to follow him.

so guys can you actually remember and understand the meaning of beckoned.

so beckoned means to signal somebody in order to follow him.

signal somebody by heads or maybe by hands.

So occupant is a noun.

and we use it for a person in position of a house office or position.

The next essential word is appoint.

appoint is a verb.

appoint means to decide on; set a time or place, choose for a position; or we can say equip or furnish.

appoint

let’s use this verb in different examples.

a. The library was appointed which means actually it was chosen here.

The library was chosen and appointed as the best place for the urgent meeting.

So guys urgent here means actually we studied the word in previous lessons.

Urgent meetings are very important and very essential meetings.

b. Though Mr. Thompson was appointed (he was chosen) to a high position, he did not neglect his old friends.

The essential word here is neglect which means to pay no or little attention to somebody.

c. the occupant of the well appointed guest room considered himself quite fortunat (quite lucky).

and the essential word here is occupant.

We studied this word which means a person who is in a position of a house.

and the next one is considered which means to regard or to continue thinking about something in order to make decisions.

The next essential word is quarter.

quarter

quarter means actually it has different meanings.

It means region; or section; or a place to live; to provide a place to live.

so we can use quarter as a verb; and as a noun here.

Let’s use it in different examples.

a. The large family was unaccustomed to such small quarters.

so quarter means plagues to such small places.

So guys do you know the meaning of unaccustomed.

We studied this words in previous lessons.
and lesson number 1 or 2 of five-four.

I guess if you don’t know the meaning of these essential words in these sentences I suggest you to come back and review the other lessons.

So unaccustomed means not used to something.

b. Ellen moved to the French Quarter of our city.

French part or French region of our city.

c. The city quartered the pauper in an old school.

So quartered here used as a verb.

Which means to provide a place to live for some people.

and the essential word here is a pauper.

pauper means poor people.

Yes paupers means the poor people.

the needy people.

The next essential word a site.

site

Site means position or place of anything.

Actually the previous word quarter is a synonyms for sight.

sight and quarter are synonyms.

and we can use them actually either of them in different sentences.

a. the agent insisted that the house had one of the best sites in town.

it had one of the best places or locations in town.

and the essential word here is insist.

Which means to continue firmly on doing something.

b. We were informed by our guide that a monument would be built on the site of the historic battle.

and the essential word here is a guide.

actually which means a person who shows you the way a person who

actually tells you the right way.

c for the site of the new school, the committee preferred an urban location.

and the essential word here is location and urban.

Urban is something that is related to the city.

and location means actually where the place is.

So the essential word here in this part was site.

the next essential and nice word is quote.

quote

quote means repeat exactly what; actual repeat exactly the words of another or a passage from a book;

that is, something that is repeated exactly;

or repeated exactly; or give the price of; or a quotation.

so a quote can be used as a verb and as a noun.

Sometimes we have to repeat exactly the words of other people so we have to quote them.

a. She often quotes her spouse to prove a point.

and the essential word here is a spouse.

I’m not sure whether you can understand the meaning of this word or not.

but spouse means husband or wife.

b. The stockbroker quoted gold at a dollar off yesterday’s closing price.

c. Biblical quotes offer a unique opportunity for study.

and the essential word in this sentence is unique which means something that is matchless.

So guys the next essential word in this lesson is verse.

verse means actually a short division of a chapter in the Bible; a single line or a group of lines of poetry.

Yes we call them verse, verse.

Example:

a. The verse from the Bible that’s my father quoted most frequently was, “ Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

So the essential words here are quotes

which means to say exactly what other people said.

and frequently means something that happens regularly.

b. Several verses of a religious nature were contained in the documents.

Yes, and documents means data and information.

c. Though it is not always easy to comprehend, Shakespeare’s verse, Shakespeare’s verse has merit that is worth the toil.

So we have actually three essential words here.

The first one is comprehend which means to understand something.

The second one is merit to which means that goodness of something.

And the last one is toil which means trying very hard or hard work.

So now we can understand the meaning of this sentence.

But let’s read this sentence in a different way.

Though it is not always easy to comprehend (to understand) Shakespeare maybe lines or words have goodness that is worth.

that’s how we can understand this sentence.

The next essential word is morality.

morality

morality means the right or wrong of an action; virtue; a set of rules or principles of conduct.

So this is actually the right or the wrong of an action when you speak about the wrong or the right of an action we speak of morality.

Let’s use this word which is a noun in different examples.

a. The editor spoke on the morality of “bugging” the quarters of a political opponents.

So we have actually three essential words here.

The first one editor which means a person who edits and fix and repair something.

The next one is quarters

actually which means that the people who live in one place or when we speak about the region or the place

and the last one is opponent which means a person who competes against others.

The other word for opponent is rival.

b. We rarely consider the morality of our daily actions, though that should occupy a high position in our thinking.

and the essential word here is Occupy

which means actually to take a place; to make a place; busy.

c. Kenny’s unruly behavior has nothing to do with his lack of morality.

Yes the essential word here is unruly

which means something that is against the rules against the law.

So that’s it.

That’s a perfect word.

The next essential word is roam.

roam

roam

as you can see in this picture:

these guys are roaming.

roaming means wonder; to go about with nameless special plan or aim.

to walk around; go round with no speciall plan or aim.

a. In the days of the Wild West, outlaws roamed the country.

and the essential words here is outlaw

which means people who are against the law; people who break the law; or we can say we can call them lawbreakers.

b. a variety of animals once roamed our land.

and the essential words here is variety which means different kinds of animals ones roamed our land.

c. The bachelor promised his girlfriend that he would roam no more.

So we have one essential word here

on that is Bachelor if you can remember guys we studied this word in the first lesson 1 of five-four absolutely essential words.

which means a person who is single and unmarried, yes.

roam

and I guess the last word of this lesson is attract.

attract means to draw to oneself; win the attention and liking of somebody

attract

attract is a verb; the adjective is attractive;

and the noun is attraction.

but let’s use these verb in different examples.

a. The magnet attracted the iron particles.

b. adventure was the thrill that attracted the famous mountain climber to the jagged peak.

Yes, now the essential word here is jagged.

so jagged means uneven something that is not even, uneven.

c. a glimpse into the brightly colored roam attracted the children’s attention.

and the essential word here is a glimpse

which means a short and quick look into something
