Lesson 29

Hello everybody.

How are you doing?

Welcome to lesson number 29 of five- four absolutely essential words.

as always I’m gonna teach you twelve essential words here and we’re gonna understand the meaning of them.

and we’re gonna use them in different examples to make you understand them thoroughly completely at the end. we’re gonna use all of these words in a very interesting story.

so please guy focus and if there is any questions you can ask me these questions at the end of this lesson I will be always there to answer you.

Word numbe one is Toil.

Toil

as you can see in this picture:

the guy is working very hard.

toil is a verb; and and noun.

so toil means hard work; to work hard; or move with difficulty.

so we can use it as a verb; and as a noun of this same time.

a. The feeble old man toiled up the hill.

there is an essential words here and that is feeble.

Can you tell me the meaning of feeble? Can you remember?

feeble means a person who is old… sorry.

a person who is weak; and not strong; we cannot strong.

b. after years of toil, ( after years of hard work) scientists disclosed that they had made progress in controlling the dreaded disease.

so we have two essential words here in this part.

the first one is disclose which means to make something known; to discover something; maybe disclose to show the secret;

and dread, dreaded disease; a disease that most of the people are scared of

so dread means to be scared of something.

c. Despite all his toil, Fred never succeeded in reaching his goal.

despite means: in spite of all his hard work a never succeeded in reaching his goal.

so this is the first word of lesson a number 29, five-four absolutely essential words.

toil

word number two is blunder.

blunder means mistake; to make a stupid mistake; stumble; or say something in a very clumsily.

so blunder like the previous word we can use it as a verb; and as a noun in different examples in different contexts.

let’s use this word in these examples.

a. The exhausted boy blundered through the woods.

exhausted here means tired.

so the tired boy, he blundered.

blunder here means actually to stumble through the woods.

b. Bert’s awkward apology could not make up for his serious blunder.

so we have two essential words, here the first one is awkward which means clumsy.

and the next one is apology when you say that you are sorry, this is an apology

and verb is an apologize.

c. The general’s blunder forced his army to a rapid retreat.

the essential words here is rapid which means very fast; and quick.

so this is the second words of this lesson blunder: stupid, mistake, or to make a stupid mistake.

Word number three is daze.

daze is confuse.

We use this word as a variable noun and adjective

but let’s find out.

a. The severity of the blow dazed the fighter led to his defeat.

So the essential words here is severity which means that difficulty; there actually violence.

maybe we can see here:

the violence of this blow dazed the fighter or confused him.

b. When he ventured out of the house at night, the child was dazed by the noise and the lights.

so venturing is to risk; to put your life on a risk.

and we studied this word in previous lesson, I suggest you guys to come back to the previous lessons, if you cannot remember the meaning of these words.

c. Dazed by the flashlight, Maria blundered

down the steps.

yes, she’s tumbled down the steps.

The next essential word is mourn.

mourn

mourn means grieve; feel or shows sorrow for something; or sorrow for something.

mourn, mourn, mourn news as a verb.

a. Sundra did not cease to mourn for John Lennon.

The essential word here is cease which means to stop; to stop something.

so she didn’t stop to grieve and feel or show sorrow for somebody or John Lennon.

b. The entire city mourned (cried and grieved) for the people lost in the calamity.

and the essential words, and this sentence is calamity.

calamity which means a big misfortune or a bad luck.

c. we need not mourn over trifles.

trifle is an essential word in this part.

do you guys know the meaning of trifle?

trifle things that are not very important or an important things or unnecessary things.

The next essential words we should learn here is subsides.

subside is a verb.

subside

subside means to sink to a lower level; or a glow, grow less.

subside

a. after the excessive rains stopped, the flood waters subsided.

The essential part the words in this sentence is excessive which means too much.

after too much rain stopped the flood waters subsided which means started to grow less.

b. The waves subsided when the winds ceased to blow.

and the essential word here is ceased which means stops so the waves actually grow less when the winds stop to blow.

c. Danny’s anger subsided (which means grow less subsided) when the culprit apologized.

when the criminal when the guilty person actually said sorry.

So culprit means a guilty person and apologized means actually to say that you are sorry for doing something.

and we have studied these essential words in the previous lessons. If you can remember them.

The next essential word is maim.

maim

As you can see in this picture of this:

guy sitting on the chair, He’s maimed

so Maim means crippled; disable; cause to lose an arm; leg; or other part of the body.

we can use maim as a verb and as a noun and as an adjective sometimes.

a. Auto accidents maim and many persons each year.

so maim here is a verb which means it’s caused to lose an arm; leg; or other parts of the body; and eat disabled people.

b. Though he went through an awesome expensive experience in the crash, Fred was not seriously maimed.

Awesome experience

Here awesome experience means a terrible horrible experience.

c. Car manufacturers insist that seat belts can prevent the maiming of passengers in the event of a crash.

The essential word here is insists which means to actually continue firmly on doing something.

the next essential word is comprehend.

comprehend which means understand.

as you can see in this picture:

This boy maybe cannot comprehend that maybe this is a kind of math problem he cannot comprehend that, he cannot understand it.

a. If you can use a word correctly, there is a good chance that you comprehend it.

You can understand it.

You need to.

b. You need not to be pauper to comprehend fully what hungar is.

and the essential words here in this sentence is pauper.

Which means a person who is poor. pauper.

c. My parents say that they cannot comprehend today’s music.

They cannot understand today’s music actually.

This is what most of the old people say.

They cannot understand what the singers are singing in comparison to those songs that the Beatles used to listen many years ago.

So comprehend means understand.

This is a verb.

The next nice essential necessary word is commend.

commend

As you can see I thing in this picture these men they are trying to commend the woman.

so command means praise; hand over for safekeeping.

a. Everyone commended the mayor’s thrifty suggestion.

here the essential word in this sentence is thrifty.

which means economic cool and saving.

b. Florence commends the baby to her aunt’s care.

here commend has a different meaning.

As I told you the second meaning of command means to hand over for safekeeping.

So it has a different meaning.

c. The truth is that we all like to be commended for a good work.

we like to be actually praised for a good

work because it can give you maybe motivation and the energy to proceed.

So this is the essential word of this part command.

final

Everybody knows the meaning of final which means coming last or deciding.

as you can see in this picture:

This part has come to the final line.

a. The final week of the term is rapidly approaching.

rapidly which means quickly approaching; coming close.

b. Jos was commended for his improvement in the final test.

command to the words we studied just a few minutes ago

which means praised.

c. the final sensor of our actions is our own conscience.

The final sensor, sensor is a person who actually controls something in order to make it acceptable.

and acceptable for the government.

The next essential word these exempt.

exampt means make free from; or freed from.

exempt

We can use it as a verb and as an adjective.

a. Our school exempts bright pupils from final exams.

so it’s pretty simple it means that the school is trying to make the bright and clever students free from the final exams.

exams that happen at the end.

b. school property is exempt from most taxes.

c. Juvenile offenders are not exempt from punishment.

so juvenile here is an essential word of this part.

Juvenile means young; and actually youth; young offenders.

the next essential word is a vain.

vain means having too much pride in one’s ability looks at source raw or the second meaning of vain means of no use something; that is not useful.

So we use it as an adjective; as a noun in different examples.

But let’s find out:

a. Josephine in quiet vain about her beauty.

she’s quiet.

she’s very actually proud about her beauty.

b. To be perfectly frank, I do not see what she has to be vain about.

what she has to be proud about.

c. Brian made numerous vain attempts to reach the doctor by telephone.

So here vain attempt has different meanings.

It means useless attempts.

and the essential words in this part is numerous.

which means many or several

repetition

repetition

repetition means act of doing or saying something again and again.

repetition

repetition is a noun; and the verb is repeat.

a. The repetition of new words in this book will help you to learn them.

b. Any repetition of such unruly behavior will be punished.

and the essential word of this part is unruly

which means it gains the law.

c. After a repetition of his costly mistake, Jerry was fired from his job.

very nice.

and essential word repetition.

and that was the last word of lesson number 29.
