Lesson 22

Hello my dear friends. Welcome to lesson number twenty two of five-four absolutely essential words.

We are going to learn twelve essential necessary nice words in this lesson and we’re going to use them in different examples and we’re going to use all of these words in one great story.

I will do my best and I’m doing my best to help you remember and use these words in different contexts.

And guys if you if there is any doubt please do not forget to ask me questions I can always answer your back.

So let’s start with the first word.

The first word of Lesson Number twenty two is warden.

So guys warden means keeper; guard; person in charge of a prison.

That’s a meaning of warden.

a. The warden found himself facing two hundred defiant prisoners.

The essential word here is defiant which means a person who is guilty of something.

b. A cautious Warden always has to anticipate the possibility of an escape.

We have two essential words in this actually sentence. The first one is cautious which means a person who is very careful watchful and the next one is anticipate.

Anticipate means to expect somebody.

c. When the journalists ask to meet with Warden Thomas, he sent word that he was sick.

So the essential word here in this sentence is journalist which means newspaper man or a person who writes and actually edits newspapers.

So this was the first essential word of Lesson Number 22 word and which means a keeper; guard or a person in charge of a prison.

Word number two is acknowledge. Acknowledge means to admit to be true.

When you acknowledge something you admit something to be true.

So this is the verb. It’s not a noun.

Let’s use these actually word in different examples.

a. The experts reluctantly acknowledged that their estimate of food costs was not accurate.

Great. So we have actually three essential words in this sentence the first one is reluctantly which means unwillingly.

The next word is estimate which means guess. And actually the last word is accurate which means exact.

So they expert unwillingly acknowledged admitted that the guess of food cost was not very exact.

So we can understand the meaning of this sentence and these words.

b. District Attorney Hogan got the man to acknowledge that he had lied in court.

c. I hate leaving alone, the bachelor acknowledged. the bachelor admitted.

So guys can you remember the meaning of bachelor? As you can remember we studied this word in the first lesson of five- four.

So bachelor means a person who is single and unmarried.

That’s the meaning of bachelor.

So this is the essential word of this part. Acknowledge.

Word number three is justice. Justice.

Justice means just conduct or fair dealing. Justice.

a. Daniel Webster abandoned any hope for justice once he saw the jury.

The essential word here is abandon which means to leave something without the thought of coming back.

b. Our pledge to the flag refers to the liberty and justice for all.

Essential word here is pledge which means promise. Or promise to the flag refers to the liberty and justice for all.

c. The warden acknowledged that justice had not been served in my case.

So the essential word here is Warden and actually acknowledged. We studied these word just a few minutes ago and you can remember them.

So the warden means a keeper and acknowledge means to admit something to be true.

So that’s pretty simple.

We are trying to use these words and different examples and repeat them in different examples to help you remember them for a very long time.

The next word is delinquent.

Delinquent means an offender; criminal or someone who is behind time.

The best synonym for delinquent is criminal.

As you can see in this picture these soldiers are criminals and they are killing people. They are delinquents.

a. The youthful delinquents tried to avoid going to jail.

So the essential word here is avoid which means to stop or keep away from doing something.

b. All delinquents are banned from the student council at school.

The essential word here in this party is banned which means forbidden or prohibited.

c. If you are delinquent in paying your dues, you will be dropped from membership in the club.

That’s a very nice example.

So delinquent means a criminal or offender.Very nice word.

Next one is reject and I think most of you guys know the meaning of reject.

Most of the students understand. Reject means to refuse to take; use; believe; consider, grant, etc.

The other synonym for reject is deny. reject to deny and refuse.

These are all synonyms.

As you can see in this picture the woman she’s rejecting from talking or she’s rejecting from speaking to them Camera.

a. When Sylvester tried to join the army, he was hoping the doctors wouldn’t reject him because of his eyesight.

b. The reform bill was unanimously rejected by Congress.

So the essential word here that I can explain is unanimously which means incomplete agreement.

When something happens unanimously it happens in complete agreement and everybody every single person agrees with that.

c. When his promotion was rejected by the newspaper owner, the editor was thoroughly bewildered.

We have lots of essential words here.

The first one is editor which means a person who edit, fix and repair something.

Thoroughly means completely and bewildered means actually puzzled confused.

And we studied all of these words in previous lessons and we are trying to repeat them in different examples for you.

The next word is deprive, deprive. Deprive means take away from by force. To take something away from somebody by force. Deprive.

Deprive is a verb and the noun is deprivation, deprivation.

a. The poor man was deprived of a variety of things that money could buy.

So the essential word here in this sentence is variety which means different kinds of things. Variety.

b. We were deprived of a good harvest because of the lack of rain.

We have two essential words here. The first one is harvest which means the time to pick up the fruits and actually the crops.

And the next one is lack which means without something.

All of these words are really essential and we are learning hundreds of the words in different actually lessons.

c. Living in a rural area, Betsy was deprived of concerts and plays.

So the essential word here is rural which means something that is related to the villages or the country. rural.

Very nice word. deprive.

The next word is spouse. Spouse means husband or wife and this is a very nice words.

Very good word.

And do not actually forget the meaning of this word. Spouse.

a. When a husband prospers in his business a spouse benefits also.

Exactly.

Can you remember the meaning of this essential word prosper?

We studied this word I think in the previous lesson. Lesson number twenty one. Prosper means to be successful in something and it’s a verb.

b. The woman and her spouse relieved each other throughout the night at their child’s bedsides.

Very good example.

So the word the essential word here is relieve which means to free somebody from any pain.

c. May I bring in my spouse to the office party? Dornida asked.

So spouse means actually this word refers to husband or wife.

The next word is vocation. Guys do not confuse the difference between a vocation and vacation. Vacation with a which means holiday.

But vocation means occupation; Business; profession or trade Or we can say simply a job.

So that’s vocation not vacation. Vocation.

Red Smith’s vocation was as a journalist for The Times.

Newspaper man a journalist.

b. Hiroki’s vocation turned into his life’s career.

c. It is difficult to pick an appropriate vocation when you are in elementary school.

Exactly.

So the essential word here is appropriate which means suitable or something that is fit. vocation.

For example my vocation is teaching English and I love it.

Everybody has a different vocation.

The next word is unstable, unstable. Unstable means not firmly fixed; easily moved or over thrown. Unstable.

The opposite of this word is stable which means firmed. firmly something fixed. stable and honesty.

But let’s use this word in different examples.

a. Some unstable people may panic when they find themselves in trouble.

Exactly and the essential word here is panic which means actually to become afraid of something. Panic.

b. I could detect that the drinking glass was Unstable and about to fall.

The essential word here is detect.

Can you remember the meaning of detect?

They take means to find out. I understand.

So I could understand that the drinking glass was Unstable was not actually fixed firmly fixed and about to fall.

c. Cathy’s balance became unstable because she was very weary.

This is an essential word of this sentence.

Weary which means very tired. Very exhausted. weary.

The next word is homicides.

Homicide is a verb which means a killing of one human being by another.

Or we can say murder. homicide means murder and kill people.

a. The police was baffled as to who was responsible for the homicide.

The police were baffled.

The essential words here is baffled which means can you remember? baffled means confused and puzzled.

b. It took a crafty person to get away with that Homicide.

Crafty, crafty is an essential word here which means a person who is foxy.

Yes.

It took a crafty person to get away with the homicide and murder.

c. News of the homicide quickly circulated through our vicinity.

We have two essential words here.

The first one is circulate which means to go round or spread and the next one is vicinity which means neighborhood. vicinity.

Yes. We studied these words in previous lesson.

The next words penalize. As you can see in this picture the father is penalizing his child.

Which means to punish somebody. So penalize means to declare punishment by law or rule or set a penalty for somebody.

So penalize.

a. The Detroit Lions the Detroit Lions were penalized fifteen yards for their rough play.

b. We were penalized for not following the tradition.

Tradition means beliefs or actually ideas that are handed down from one generation to another generation.

c. Mrs. Robins penalized for doing the math problem in ink.

So penalize means to punish somebody or to set a penalty for somebody.

Actually by law or rule.

The next essential word is beneficiary, beneficiary, beneficiary.

Beneficiary means a person who receives benefits. Beneficiary.

a. I was the beneficiary of 8000 dollars when my grandfather died.

b. When the paintings were sold, the millionaire’s niece who was the beneficiary.

He was the person who received the benefits.

c. My brother was the beneficiary of excellent advice from his guidance counselor.

So beneficiary means a person who receives benefits.

Very nice word.

So that was the last on essential words of lesson number 22.

We learned twelve essential words and we’re going to use all of them in different actually stories.
