Lesson 19

Hello my dear friends. Welcome to lesson number 19 of five-four absolutely essential words.

Like always I’m goanna teach you twelve essential words and we’re going to use them in different contexts and different sentences to make you understand them to make them very clear for you.

So are you ready?

Let’s get started.

The first word the first essential word is harvests.

Harvest, harvest means gathering in of grain or other food crops.

So this is the time of harvest. Gathering grain or other food crops.

a. This year’s harvest was adequate to feed all our people.

There is an essential word here and that is adequate.

I don’t know whether you can remember the meaning of this who are not but adequate means enough, enough.

b. The farmer decided to expand his fields so that he would get a bigger harvest.

That’s a very good idea and the essential word in this sentences expands which means to make something bigger or larger.

c. If the harvest is poor, there is always the possibility of a famine.

Exactly.

Famine means actually starvation or lack of food. famine or sometimes we can say hunger.

So this is the first word of actually. Lesson number 19. Harvest.

Word number two is abundant. Abundant means more than enough; very plentiful; more than enough.

a. It is urgent that the hospital have an abundant supply of blood.

Exactly it is urgent. urgent means it’s very necessary and it’s very important.

b. An abundant harvest was predicted by the secretary of agriculture.

The essential word here is predicted. Predicted means to tell beforehand.

c. In recent years an abundant number of complaints have disturbed the telephone company.

The essential word here is a recent. Recent means something that happened recently or something that happened lately. Maybe a short time ago.

Uneasy, Uneasy. In this picture you can see this woman is uneasy or she feels uneasy. Uneasy means a restless; disturbed or anxious, anxious.

That’s the meaning of Uneasy and that’s an adjective.

Let’s use this word in different examples in different contexts.

a. Mrs. Spinner was uneasy about letting her son play in the vicinity of the railroad tracks.

And the essential word here is vicinity. Vicinity means neighborhood and we studied and we learned this words in previous lessons of five-four.

We are repeating these words to help you remember them more and actually keep them in mind for a very long time.

b. The Treasurer was uneasy about the company’s budget.

Can you remember the meaning of budgets? Budget was a financial plan. Financial a plan for how much money you spend on the specific time.

c. Arnold felt uneasy about meeting even though he tried to act in casual matter, in a friendly manner, in an unplanned manner.

That’s an essential word of this sentence. Uneasy, uneasy.

The next essential word is calculate. Calculate is a verb. The noun is calculation.

So calculate means to actually out by adding subtracting multiplying or dividing or we can say figuring, calculate.

In order to understand the amount of something you should calculate it.

a. The cook had to calculate the number of diners to see whether he could decrease his orders for meat.

The essential word here is decrease which means to reduce or less on something.

b. In order to see how expensive the car was, the buyer calculate the tax and other charges.

So the essential word here is expensive which means something

that something of a high price something that is very costly.

c. I use an abacus to calculate my average.

So the essential word here is calculate which means to add subtract multiply or divide or actual understand the figure.

The next word is absorb, absorb. Absorb is take in or suck up.

We use for liquids and also we can use it for interest to greatly. absorb is a verb.

The adjectives is absorbing. let’s use this word this verb in different examples.

a. The sponge absorbed the beer which had leaked from the keg.

Keg was a small barrel and we actually learned this words in previous lesson.

b. Our bodies must absorb these things which will nourish them.

Exactly.

That’s a very great sentence.

c. I became absorbed which means I became interested in what the teacher was saying and didn’t hear the bell ring.

Very nice words absorb.

The next word is estimate. Estimate means form a judgment or opinion about something or we can simply say Guess.

So estimate can be the verb and it can be the noun. Estimate means a guess as a verb.

Let me give you some examples.

a. The driver estimated that the auto race would commence at nine o’clock.

The essential word here is commence which means to start. When something commences, it starts.

b. I try to avoid making estimates on things I know nothing about.

That’s a very good idea.

The essential word in this sentence is a void which means to stop doing something or to keep away or to stay away from doing something. Avoid.

c. In your estimate in your guess, who will be victorious in the conflict? In this conflict?

We have two essential and important words in this sentence.

The first one is a victorious which means to be the winner and the next one is conflict which means an angry discussion between two sides.

So the essential word in this part is estimate, estimate.

The next word is morsel. You can see in this picture the guy has picked up a morsel. Morsel means a small bite; mouthful or tiny amount. Morsel.

a. When Reynaldo went into the restaurant, he pledged to eat every morsel on his plate.

So the essential word here is pledged.

Can you remember the meaning of pledge?

Pledge d’s not pronounce. pledge means to promise to do something.

That’s the meaning of pledge.

b. Suzanne was reluctant to try even a morsel of the lobster.

So she was reluctant which means unwilling to do something.

If you had a morsel of intelligence,You would be uneasy too.

Oh that’s a very good sentence.

If you had just a tiny amount of intelligence, you would be uneasy too uneasy.

We studied the word in this lesson and that means to be actually anxious. Yes uneasy means anxious.

The next essential word is quota. Quota.

Quota is a share of a total due from or to a particular state; district person, etc.

That’s the meaning of quota.

When we speak about the share, we speak about quota. So

a. The company revealed a quota of jobs reserved for college students.

So the company revealed. Reveal is an essential word in this sentence which means to make something known to make something visible.

b. There was a quota placed on the number of people who could migrate here from China.

So the essential word here is migrate which means to move from one country to another country or to move from one place to another place.

c. Lieutenant Dugan doubted that a quota had been placed on the number of parking tickets each police officer was supporters supposed to give out.

So we have one essential word here and that’s doubted. The lieutenant Dugan doubted which means he was not sure.

When you doubt something you are not sure about that.

The next essential word is threat, threat. Threat means sign or cause of possible evil or harm, threats.

Let’s use this word in different examples.

a. There is always the horrid threat that my job will be abolished.

So we have two essential words in this sentence.

The first one is horrid which means terrible.

And the next one is abolish which means banned or prohibited.

b. It is absurd to think that a tiny bug could be a threat to a person.

It is absurd.

Can you remember the meaning of absolute? Absolute means foolish or meaningless.

c. Our English teacher made a threat to take away our cell phones.

Yes it’s a sign of actually possible evil or harm, threat.

Ban, Ban. So in this picture you can see there is actually this red signal.

So it means actually fire maybe is banned.

So ban means prohibit or forbid.

So it’s a verb right. Yes it’s a verb.

Let’s use this verb in different examples.

a. The group unanimously voted to ban all people who were under six feet.

And the essential word here is unanimously which means in complete agreement.

When you do something in a complete agreement you do it unanimously and everybody agrees completely.

b. Health officials are trying to expand their field in order to ban cigarette advertising from newspapers and magazines.

The essential word here in this sentence is expand which means to make something larger and bigger.

c. I want to ban all outsiders from our discussions on security.

That’s very good.

So the essential word was here Ban which means prohibits or forbid.

Panic, panic.

Panic means unreasoning fear; fear spreading through a group of people. So that they lose control of themselves. Panic.

So in this picture I think this ship has panicked.

So we can use panic as a verb and noun.

But let’s use it in different examples.

a. The leader of the lost group appealed to them not to panic.

So there is an essential word here and that’s appealed which means a request or an error or somebody to do something.

When we studied this word in previous lesson if you can remember.

When the danger was exaggerated, a few people started to panic.

So when the danger was exaggerated. Can you remember the meaning of exaggerated?

Exaggerated means when the danger was actually when and when we make something bigger than 80s we exaggerate about it. We magnify it.

c. The source of panic in the crowd was a man with the gun.

Yes the source, the origin. The only reason. Panic.

Very nice word. I love this word.

The next word is appropriate, appropriate. Appropriate means fits; set apart from some spatial use. appropriate.

There is another synonym for this which is suitable. Appropriate.

a. At an appropriate time, at a suitable time, the chief actually the chief promised to reveal his plan.

b. The lawn was an appropriate setting for Eileen’s wedding.

It was an.

c. After some appropriate prayers, the dinner was served.

Appropriate.

It’s an adjective and It’s a very nice and essential word.
