Now listen to a conversation between two students discussing an upcoming career fair.

Female Student: What’s up, Rob?

Male Student: Not too much. Hey. Are you going to the career fair next Wednesday?

Female Student: Sure I think meeting some companies’ representatives will really help me find a good job after graduation. You are going too, right?

Male Student: Well, I really want to, but I just found out I’m scheduled to work at the restaurant Wednesday afternoon. I’m kind of stuck.

Female Student: Well, why don’t you switch your hours with a coworker? You said people do that a lot. Wouldn’t that be easy enough?

Male Student: I could do that, but you know, my boss at the restaurant is already helping me by not scheduling me to work when I have class. I donl want to make her mad or anything.

Female Student: I see what you mean.

Male Student: But…wow…I really do need to think about finding a job after graduation.

Female Student: Well, what if you stop by the career fair for a few minutes before work. I mean, not all the representatives would be there yet, but you’d at least have the chance to meet some of them.

Male Student: True. I could make some contacts and…

Female Student: And maybe follow up with them later.

Male Student: Great idea! Only thing is: what if the best companies don’t show up until after I’ve left?
