A: listen to Olivia tell her friends about a phone call she got last night.

what made Olivia lose her temper?

how did she behave towards the caller?

last night this guy called, trying to sell me a magazine subscription.

normally I would have been more polite, you know, I would have just said no and then hung up.

but he was the fourth caller and it was after 10 o’clock.

so I just lost it; I yelled at him for several minutes and I finally hung up on him.

at that point I couldn’t have done much else I don’t think, because I was too mad.

I know I shouldn’t have lost my temper, he was just doing his job.

but I mean, what would you have done?

I suppose I could have apologized or I could have asked him to put me on their do not call list.

actually that’s what I should have done; I’ll do that next time.
