Family activities

A. Listen again. Why don’t the people do these things now? Write a reason under each picture.

1. My husband and I used to go to the movies all the time, I mean, at least two or three times a month, and we’d see all the new movies. But we hardly go anymore. Now we have satellite TV, so we just stay home and watch the movies that are on that night.

2. Well, when the kids were younger, we’d all go on vacation together. We’d take a family vacation every year. We used to go to the beach, and it was a lot of fun. But now the kids are older, and they don’t want to go on vacation with mom and dad! They want to hang out with their friends and do their own thing.

3. One thing I used to do is make dinner. I’d prepare all the vegetables and cook a big meal every night. But I’m just too tired these days, and I don’t have time. I mean, it’s six o’clock by the time I get home. So now I just throw a frozen dinner in the microwave, and it’s ready in five minutes. Actually, I think the kids prefer it to my cooking!
