Lesson 89 - Review of Will

Hi everyone. I’m Jennifer from English with Jennifer. Do you need to learn more English? You can study with my students Flavia and Andreia. Remember to subscribe and watch all of our basic English lessons.

In this video, we’ll take the time to review and practice the future with “will.” We’ll all learn together. Right? We’ll all learn together today. One, two, three, four of us. We will. We’ll. We’ll all learn. I want you to listen and we’ll review. Okay? I wrote sentences, and I want you, first, to change my sentences from “may” to “will.” “May” is similar to me “maybe.” We use “may” + a verb, like “It may rain.” Like maybe.

Maybe it will rain. It may rain. So when we do “may” + a verb, we’re thinking, “Maybe. Maybe.” When I use “will,” I’m more certain. I’m more sure, like “It’ll rain. It’ll rain.” I feel more confident, more sure. So, I’m going to say “may,” and you need to say “will.” So, for example, if I say, “Cars may fly in the future.” You say, “Oh, cars will fly. Cars will fly in the future.” Okay.

People may live longer in the future. Uh, people will live longer. Yeah. People will live longer. So I’m saying, “Mm. Maybe.” And you’re like, “Oh, Jennifer, no. People will live longer in the future. I know. I’m sure.” Okay? Cars may be more expensive in the future. Cars will more…will be…will be more expensive in the future. Yeah. I think so. Yeah. We may have a female president in the future.

We will…have…a female president. Yeah. In the future. Someday. We will. In the future. In the future. I may have gray hair in the future. You…you will…gray…I may have gray hair in the future. You will…have gray hair in the future. Yes, I will. Sorry. Sorry! We…we all will have gray hair, but I will have gray hair first, and then maybe ten years later you will have gray hair, too. Okay.

All right. This time, again, listen. I’m going to say full forms. You say short forms, the contractions. So if I say, “We will all learn.” We’ll learn. We’ll learn. Okay? You will be very busy. I have to say… Shorten it. You can keep “you.” So, if I say “you will,” make it short. You will be busy. Will. You will be very busy.

You’ll be very busy. You’ll be very busy. Mm-hmm. You’ll. You’ll. She will be four years old. She’ll will be… She’ll…be… She’ll be four years old. Mm-hmm. She’ll be four years old. She’ll. She’ll. She’ll. Mm-hm. He will have more time today. He’ll have more time today. Mm-hmm. It will rain all day. It…mm.

We didn’t practice this. It…I forget. Help? “It will”…in fast speech, relaxed speech: it’ll. It’ll rain. It will rain all day. It’ll rain all day. It’ll…it’ll. It’ll rain…it’ll. It’ll rain all day. It sounds like “little.” Big and little. It’ll. It’ll. It’ll rain all day. It’ll rain all day. It’ll rain. It’ll. It will rain. It’ll rain. It’ll. It’ll rain all day. With confidence. It’ll rain all day. It’ll rain all day. Again. It’ll rain all day. Yeah. It’ll rain all day. It’ll rain all day.

Difficult! Yeah. Just say…it sounds like “little.” Big and little. It’ll. It will…it’ll. And you feel your tongue there. It’ll. It’ll rain all day. I will see you later. I’ll see you later. Uh-huh. Again. I’ll see you later. I’ll. I’ll see you later. We will have a good time. Will…will…will you have? No. We will have a good time.

We will… We will have a good time. We’ll you have…no. We will… We’ll have a good time. Yes. We’ll have a good time. They will be happy together. They… They’ll be happy together. Yes. They’ll be happy together. Now listen. Here’s a challenge. We will not be there. We’ll… What happens with “not”? Won’t.

Won’t. We will not be there. We won’t…we won’t be there. We won’t be there. Again. We won’t be there. We won’t be there. Won’t. …And when I have “won’t” and then “be,” I don’t say “won’t be,” but “won’t be.” Won’t be. …We won’t be there. What’s different? Want… What? Like “What is your name?” Oh, want. I want…want…won’t.

Won’t, like “I won’t be there” has more of an “oh”…more of a circle in my lips. Whoa. Won’t, won’t. Want. When I say “want,” my lips are more relaxed. Want. I want to sleep. I want to sleep. You won’t sleep. Okay? So think if someone says…think of someone saying, “I want to sleep,” and they’re relaxed. I want to sleep.

Want. I say, “You won’t sleep.” Wont.’ Whoa. Good. Want, won’t. Want, won’t. Good Want, won’t. Want, won’t. Good. You won’t sleep. We won’t sleep. We won’t sleep. You won’t sleep. No one will sleep. Okay. Listen. Um. They will not tell us. They will not tell us. They won’t tell us. Mm-hmm.

They won’t tell us. It will not be cold. It will not be cold. It won’t be cold. Good. Good. I will not forget. I won’t forget. Good. She will not say no. She won’t say no. Mm-hmm. He will not help. He won’t help. You will not be sorry. We won’t be sorry. We won’t be sorry. You won’t be sorry. So let’s practice again.

I will. I’ll. You will. You’ll. She will. She’ll. He will. He’ll. It will. It’ll. It’ll rain. It’ll… And we will. We’ll. They will. They’ll. Okay? And with “won’t”…all of them. I won’t, you won’t, he won’t, she won’t. All of them are “won’t.” Whoa. Won’t.

Good. Practice some more with “will.” Answer my questions. One, what will the weather be like tomorrow? Two, will you travel this year? Three, will you go to sleep early or late tonight? Four, where will you celebrate your next birthday?

You can tell me your answers in the comments. That’s all for now.
