Collaborate – Mini Story

Welcome to the mini story.

There’s a woman, her name is Nicola. Her best friends are Chimmy the monkey and Heva the dog. They are treasure hunters. Right now they are on the Hawaiian island of Maui. They are being chased by gangsters. Nicola is driving a Toyota as fast as she can. They’re being chased by a motorcycle and black BMWs, full of gangsters. Nicola drives up, up, up to the top of the volcano on the island. The volcano’s name is Haleakala.

Where does Nicola drive?

She drives up to the top of the volcano.

Who is chasing the Toyota?

Gangsters. Gangsters are chasing the Toyota.

Who is in the Toyota?

Nicola, the woman. Chimmy the monkey and Heva the dog.

Finally, the Toyota reaches the top and Nicola, Chimmy and Heva jump out of the car. They run to the building that’s on top of the mountain.

They jump out of what?

They jump out of their car.

What kind of car do they jump out of?

A Toyota. They jump out of a Toyota.

After they jump out of the Toyota where do they run?

They run to a building that’s on the top of the volcano, on top of the mountain.

The wind is blowing. It’s dark. It’s night. And it’s very cold at the top of the volcano.

What is the wind doing?

The wind is blowing.

What time is it?

It’s nighttime. It’s night.

The wind is blowing, it’s night and it’s very cold at the top of Haleakala volcano. Haleakala is the name. In fact, there’s fog blowing across the peak. (The peak is a mountain top, a peak is a mountain top)

What is blowing across the top of the volcano, the top of the mountain?

Fog. Fog is blowing across the peak, blowing across the top of the mountain.

The three reach the building. As they reach the building the motorcycle and the BMWs that are chasing them, arrive.

What arrives as they reach the building, as they run to the building?

A motorcycle and BMWs.

Four gangsters jump out of each car, and a giant rat jumps off the motorcycle. Nicola tries to open the door of the building, but it’s locked.

What does Nicola try to do?

She tries to open the building but it’s locked and the lights are off, there’s no one inside.

The gangsters run to the building, along with the rat. They surround the three. Getty, the giant rat says, well, well, and here we are again. Getty is the rival of Nicola, Heva and Chimmy. He’s their competitor, kind of their enemy. Nicola is scared. She has never been in a fight before. Getty, the giant rat, waves his hand and the gangsters move forward. Heva yells and leaps towards them; Heva the dog. Chimmy, pretending to be Bruce Lee, also jumps forward. And so the fight begins. Heva who is very strong, fights and wrestles with multiple gangsters.

Does Heva fight with just one gangster?

No, Heva fights with multiple gangsters. (Multiple means more than one, several, many).

Does he fight with multiple gangsters or just one?

Heva, the big dog, fights with multiple gangsters, with many gangsters.

Chimmy also fights with multiple gangsters and Chimmy is very fast. He jumps and runs and hits very quickly. Getty, the giant rat, folds his arms and looks at Nicola. Nicola watches her friends fight. Heva gets hit on the head very hard. Chimmy gets punched in the stomach and Getty, the giant rat, just laughs. Next, Heva throws four gangsters down the hill and then he knocks out another. (To knock out means to hit someone and they’re unconscious. It’s like they fall asleep)

How many gangsters does Heva throw or knock down, total?

Five. He throws down a total of five. He knocks out one and throws down four more.

Chimmy knocks out two gangsters, one by one. But, Chimmy and Heva finally get tired from fighting all these people. Five gangsters grab Heva and pin him to the ground. (To pin someone to the ground means you hold them on the ground. They can’t move. They’re stuck on the ground. They grabbed his arms, legs, his head, you’re pinned to the ground. You’re pushed to the ground. Held on the ground.)

How many gangsters pin Heva to the ground?

Five. Five gangsters pin Heva to the ground.

Do they pin Heva to the ground or do they pin him against the building?

They pin him to the ground. They push him onto the ground and hold him.

Four other gangsters pin Chimmy to the ground.

Does Chimmy get pinned to the ground also?

Yes, Chimmy also gets pinned to the ground, held on the ground.

So Chimmy and Heva both get pinned to the ground. Nicola feels afraid. She looks at her friends. Then she looks at Getty, smirking in victory.

What is Getty doing?

Getty is smirking. (A smirk is a kind of smile. It’s a half smile)

Is Getty smiling big or is he smirking?

He is smirking.

And why is Getty smirking?

Because he’s winning. Heva and Chimmy are pinned to the ground. Getty thinks he has caught them. Getty thinks he has won.

So what is he doing?

He’s smirking.

Getty, the giant rat, strolls towards Nicola. (To stroll means to walk slowly) Getty strolls towards Nicola, the woman and then Nicola gets angry and she yells. She reaches back and hits Getty. Getty is surprised as Nicola hits him on the jaw.

Where does she hit Getty?

On the jaw, right around the mouth just above your neck, that is your jaw. She hits him on the jaw.

Who hits Getty on the jaw?

Nicola hits Getty on the jaw.

Getty is knocked backwards and he loses his balance. He falls. He falls over the edge of the peak, over the edge of the mountain and rolls down the mountain.

Where does he fall?

He falls over the edge of the mountain

Does he fall and die?

We don’t know, but he rolls down he doesn’t fall a long way. He hits the side and he rolls down the mountain.

When Chimmy sees this, he yells and begins to fight again. He kicks another gangster down the mountain. Heva is inspired and he throws three gangsters off and knocks them down the mountain too. The remaining gangsters look at each other, then they look at Nicola, Heva and Chimmy and they run away. They run to one of the cars, jump in and drive away. Nicola looks over the edge of the peak, the edge of the mountain, but she does not see Getty he’s gone. The rat is gone.

Wow, says Chimmy to Nicola, I didn’t know you could fight like that. Yeah, says Heva that was great. Nicola says, I didn’t know I could either, I just didn’t want you two to get hurt. Heva, Chimmy and Nicola walk back down to their car. Nicola starts the car and they drive slowly down the mountain. Nicola smiles and says tonight, we’re staying at the Four Seasons Hotel. We’re going to eat a great dinner, because we’ve earned luxury.

(Luxury means comfort, extreme comfort, extreme pleasure, extreme riches)

What have they earned?

Luxury. They have earned luxury. They have earned a great meal and a massage and the spa.

Where do they go for luxury?

To the Four Seasons Hotel, it is a luxury hotel.

Yes, yell Chimmy and Heva simultaneously, and they drive south towards the resort.
