Be The Media – POV
Okay, time for the point of view stories. Our first version is in the past.
Nicola is a woman. Her best friends were Heva the dog and Chimmy the monkey. Together they were treasure seekers. They were on the Hawaiian island of Maui and they were hiding from a dangerous gangster who wanted to find them. For one month, Nicola, Chimmy and Heva stayed in the small town of Haiku with Heva’s friend, Lorraine. Her place was beautiful. On the green side of the island, covered in tropical plants. Lorraine’s yard had two large avocado trees and Heva loved avocados.
Every day he went into the yard to eat avocados. He gathered a big bowl of avocados and ate them all. When his belly was full he lied down under a tree and took a nap. Ah, this is wonderful said Heva. Nicola went to the beach each day to swim. She enjoyed the relaxed life on Maui. But Chimmy was bored. After a month of relaxing he was bored and restless. So, he opened his computer to search for things to do.
While surfing the web he found an article about kite surfing. The article said that Maui was the best place in the world for kite surfing. Chimmy read more about kite surfing. When you kite surf you wear a board on your feet and then you hold a giant kite. The kite catches the wind and pulls you through the water and over the waves. Chimmy said, ‘wow, I gotta try that.’ So, he immediately called a kite surfing school and he booked 20 lessons.
Every day he went to the beach to learn how to kite surf. In the beginning it was very difficult. He had to learn how to control the kite. With the strong wind it was very powerful. Then he had to learn how to stand on the board. When he was finally able to do that he had to control the kite and surf at the same time. Finally, after many lessons he managed to do it. It was fantastic! He zoomed over the water. He jumped over the waves. Then he turned around and surfed down the waves. Every day he went to Nash Beach to kite surf. He became a great kite surfer. He even learned how to do big jumps in the air.
He learned how to do all kinds of amazing tricks. The other kite surfers were very impressed with Chimmy. Eventually, a reporter came to the beach and took pictures of the amazing kite surfing monkey and Chimmy became a local kite surfing legend.
Now, our next version of the story, imagine it’s happening in the future.
In the future there will be a woman. Her best friends will be Heva the dog and Chimmy the monkey. Together they’ll be treasure seekers. They’ll be on the Hawaiian island of Maui, hiding from a dangerous gangster who wants to find them. For one month, Nicola, Chimmy and Heva will stay in the small town of Haiku. They’ll stay with Heva’s friend, Lorraine. It’ll be a beautiful place on the green side of the island, covered in tropical plants. Lorraine’s yard will have two large avocado trees and Heva loves avocados.
Every day he’s gonna into the yard to get avocados (gonna means going to). He’s going to gather a big bowl of avocados and he’s going to eat them all every day. And, when his belly is full he’ll lie under a tree and take a nap. And every day he’ll say ah, this is wonderful. Meanwhile, Nicola is gonna go to the beach each day to swim. She’s going to love the relaxed
life on Maui. But Chimmy’s gonna be bored. After a month of relaxing he’ll be bored and restless. So, he’ll open his computer to search for something to do.
While surfing the web he’s gonna find an article about kite surfing. The article will say that Maui was the best place in the world for kite surfing. Chimmy will read more about kite surfing. He’ll read that when you kite surf you wear a board on your feet and then you hold a giant kite. The kite catches the wind and pulls you through the water and over the waves. Chimmy is going to get excited. He’ll say, ‘wow, I gotta try that’ and he’ll immediately call a kite surfing school and book 20 lessons.
Then, every day he’ll go to the beach to learn how to kite surf. In the beginning it’s gonna be very difficult for him. He’ll have to learn to control the kite. He’ll have to learn to stand on the board. Then he’ll have to learn how to surf while being pulled by the wind and the kite. Finally, he’ll manage to kite surf and it’s gonna be fantastic for him, he’ll love it. He’ll zoom over the water. He’ll jump over the waves. Then he’ll turn around and surf back down the waves. Every day he’ll go to Nash Beach to kite surf. He’ll become a great kite surfer. He’ll even learned how to do big jumps in the air.
He’ll learn how to do all kinds of amazing tricks. The other kite surfers, they’re gonna be very impressed with Chimmy. Eventually, a reporter will come to the beach and take pictures of the amazing kite surfing monkey and Chimmy will become a local kite surfing legend.
That’s the end of our point of view stories. Just listen to them every day. Don’t think about grammar rules, just notice how the verbs change, that’s all. Enjoy the stories every day.
Bye for now.
