Speak English with a story
Hi, everyone!
I’m Georgiana, founder of SpeakEnglishPodcast.com.
My mission is to help YOU to speak English fluently and confidently.
In today’s episode:
• I’ll talk about a new way to improve your spoken English. I’ll tell you about my secret project.
• Later, you’ll practice vocabulary, and above all, you’ll improve your spoken English with a funny question and answer story.
Awesome! Let’s get started!
First of all, I’d like to wish you a happy new year. How time flies! A new year has just begun!
Today’s episode is going to be very special.
Actually, I have an important announcement to make. For almost a year, I’ve been working on a new project. A secret project that will bring your spoken English to an advanced level.
A new powerful course is now available. It’s called The Enchanted Course.
If you can understand this podcast, you already have the right level for the program.
The course incorporates the techniques you’ve listened to in all the episodes of the Speak English Now podcast, such as the question and answer technique and point of view.
What’ so special about this course? Well, it’s based on the legendary Wizard of Oz story.
So far, I’ve created three Speak English Now courses. The Beginner’s course, Speak English Now Fluently course and the Job Interview Course.
By the way, all of my English courses were designed in a way to help you to SPEAK English only by listening. With no grammar and no textbooks.
I consider verbal communication an essential skill. That’s why I’ve decided to teach my students how to listen and speak English fluently.
Whenever I create a new course, I strive to make it as useful as possible for my students. Based on my vast experience with plenty of students from all over the world; the Enchanted course, is so far, my most complete English course.
After many years of helping students to improve their spoken English, I’ve become familiar with the real needs of intermediate students who wanted to reach a more advanced level.
By the way, it’s always a great time to continue improving your English.
However, now it’s that time of the year when you might get very serious about improving your English. I’m curious about your new year’s resolutions. I know that most people want to quit smoking, lose weight but, have you decided to become fluent in English once and for all?
If that’s so, then let me tell you that the Enchanted Course will finally help you to bring your English to an advanced level. Now you can get the course for a special price at:
www.EnchantedCourse.com
Now, let’s move on to the next section.
I’d like to offer you for free a fragment of the new course. The Enchanted course has 60 lessons in total, and this is lesson number 11.
Let’s see how it works:
• I’ll give you some information. (A phrase or two).
• I’ll ask simple questions.
• After each question, there will be some seconds of silence: it’s your turn to answer the question!
Just try to give an easy and short answer, not a complex one.
• After you answer, I’ll give you a correct answer.
This process will continue, and little by little, I’ll be telling a story using questions and answers.
Let’s get started!
All of a sudden, Dorothy woke up and looked around.
Dorothy, did you wake up all of a sudden?
Yes, I woke up all of a sudden. I’m in bed right now.
Did you fall asleep?
No, I didn’t fall asleep. I woke up all of a sudden.
I was asleep before. Now I’m in bed.
Do you feel bad?
No, I don’t feel bad. I am in bed.
I woke up and I don’t feel bad at all.
What did you do? Wake up or go to bed?
Wake up. I woke up
all of a sudden and looked around.
What did you look at? The sky?
No, I didn’t look at the sky.
I was inside. I looked around.
Who looked around? Toto?
No, Toto didn’t look around.
He’s still under the bed.
I looked around when I woke up.
When did you look around?
When you were on your way outside?
No, not when I was on my way outside.
I looked around when I woke up.
I had just woken up when I looked around and noticed that the house wasn’t moving.
What did you notice? That Toto was gone?
No, that’s not what I noticed. Toto was here with me.
I noticed that the house wasn’t moving.
The house was still moving?
No, the house wasn’t moving.
The house had stopped moving and
sunlight was coming in through the window.
Who was coming in? Was your uncle coming in?
No, my uncle wasn’t coming in.
Sunlight was coming in through the window.
What was coming in through the window?
Sunlight. Sunlight was coming in through the window.
Where was the sunlight coming in? Through the door?
No, not through the door.
Sunlight was coming in through the window.
What was the sunlight doing?
Lighting up the room?
Yes, the sunlight was lighting up the room.
Sunlight was coming in. That means that the sun was outside the window and was lighting up the room.
What was lighting up the room? The moon?
No, the moon wasn’t lighting up the room.
The sun was. It wasn’t night-time anymore.
What time of day was it? Was it in the evening, the night-time, the daytime or the morning?
What do you think, Dorothy?
It was in the morning. I think that it was in the morning.
I got up.
What did you do? Get up or go to bed?
Get up. I got up.
You went back to bed, right?
No, I didn’t go back to bed.
I got out of bed and ran to open the door.
Where did you run to? To the door?
Yes, I ran to the door to open it.
What did you want to do with the door?
Open it. I ran to open it.
The door was closed and I opened it.
Did you close the door?
No, I didn’t close it. The door was already closed.
I ran to the door, opened it,
and… I screamed with joy.
Did you scream with terror or with joy?
With joy. I screamed with joy because of what I saw.
Were you scared by what you saw?
No. It didn’t scare me.
I was very happy because I was surrounded by flowers and trees full of fruit.
What were you surrounded by? By enemies?
No, I wasn’t surrounded by enemies.
I was surrounded by flowers and trees full of fruit.
What were the trees like? Ugly or beautiful?
Beautiful. The flowers that surrounded me were beautiful.
I was surrounded by flowers and trees full of fruit.
Were you surrounded by trees without fruit?
No, they weren’t without fruit. They were full of fruit.
I was surrounded by trees full of fruit.
What time of year was it? Do you think
it was winter?
No, I don’t think that it was winter.
Do you think it was fall?
No, I don’t think it was fall.
I was surrounded by flowers and trees full of fruit, so it’s unlikely that it was winter or fall.
Could it have been spring?
Yes, it could have been. Maybe it was spring, but I’m not entirely sure if it was spring or summer.
I prefer summer over the other seasons.
Did you wish that it was summer?
Yes, I wished that it was summer.
Ok! Awesome! It’s the end of lesson 11 of the Enchanted course.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed it!
Can you see how many questions you can answer? It’s like talking to another person in English. Now imagine a whole story told this way. It’s incredible how much you can learn using this method.
