Oh, hi, Ella. Yes, I have. I’m doing a few jobs to get some money. I want to buy a guitar.

Those bags look heavy. Why didn’t you take the bus?

So that I can save the bus fare and put the money towards my guitar.

Oh, right. Can I give you a hand?

No, it’s OK. I’m nearly home now. Do you want to come in?

It’s amazing how much food is needed for just a few days, isn’t it?

There was something on the news about food last week. It said that half the food that’s grown in the world won’t be eaten. It will be thrown away.

Yes, I read that on the Internet. It’s terrible. Most of our food is imported, too. Look. These grapes were grown in Chile. That’s the other side of the world.

This orange juice was made in South Africa.

Amazing, isn’t it? And all these things are fiown to Europe and other places every day. Then they’re delivered to supermarkets.

Yes, everything is taken by lorries. So even more fuel is used. And it’s all just to bring us the food that we want.

But at least no extra fuel was used to carry these things from the supermarket to here, because I walked.

That’s true. You probably carried those bags over a mile.

I know. My arms really ache now. But I saved the bus fare and that’s more money for my guitar.

Jake, are you sure you’ve got everything on this list?

Yes. Look. Everything has been ticked.

These things haven’t been ticked.

What? Don’t tell me things have been written on the other side of the list, too!

Yes, they have.

I didn’t look at that. Oh, I’ll have to go back to the supermarket. These things are needed for tonight’s dinner.

And some of the things look heavy, so you’d better take the bus this time.
