متن انگلیسی درس

narrator: Hi.

At today have a fun English lesson with American actress Angelina Jolie who is staring in the new Disney movie Maleficent mistress of evil.

Your will understand fast native speech, learn a tones of vocabulary, improve your pronunciation and so much more.

Jolie: one of the things with fairy logic is fairies, any thing in nature has a purpose.

And so, some water fairies, we know what they do acertain you know flowers, that uh are with the you know, the moss, or the tree bark, or the sunrise, or the snow, or the whatever it maybe.

What is Maleficent?

The dark fae are of the different biomes, so they are from all around the world, and part of the reason they’re big is because they travel acrosd the world, across the oceans, they more, they inhabit all lands.

In away, they represent mother nature.

But, in the biggest_ _ in the big forms, in the earth quakes, in the snowstorm… and also in maybe, some other big, beautiful way, but as we all know mother nature can be obsolutely stunning and glorious, and feed, and shade, and protect, or it can absolutely destroy.

And that’s who the dark fae are.

They are a part of that.

Jolie: one of the things with fairy logic is fairies any thing in nature has a purpose.

Narrator: A fairy is an imaginary creature with magic powers, usually represented as a very small person with wings.

In some fantasy stories, fairies might also appear as these powerful but kind [good] witehes who help other characters in some way, like in Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty with the Fairy Godmothers.

So here, Angelina starts by saying that one of the particular things in the universe of Maleficent about fairies is thire relation with nature, and how there is purpose for each kind of fairy.

Jolie: And so, some water fairies, we know what they do a certain you know flowers, that uh are with the you know, the moss, or the tree bark, or the sunrise, or the snow, or the whatever it maybe.

Narrator: So she goes on to talk about these different things found in nature, and how there are specific types of fairies related to each element.

Moss is a very small, green or yellow plant that grows especially on wet surfaces such as rocks, walls, and trees.

Tree bark (or just bark) is the hard outer layer of a tree, as seen in this image, that normally covers the trunk part.

Jolie: What is Maleficent?

The dark fae are of the different biomes.

Narrator: Maleficent, other than being Angelina’s character’s name, mean extremely evil, causing harm or destruction.

This word is not common.

Evil is the opposite of good.

We usually think of villains as evil (wrong, immoral or bad) and heroes as good.

Jolie: The dark fae are of the different biomes.

Narrator: Fae is another way to say fairy.

These words have many different possible spellings, but theye all mean the same thing.

In Disney’s fantasy universe, Maleficent is a Dark Fae.

Dark Fae are a type of fairy who are perceived as evil creatures, but as Angelina says, also have a purpose to exist in representing different forces of nature, so they are not always bad.

A biome is a region of the Earth’s surface and the particular combination of climate [weather], plants, and animals that are found in it.

For example, forest, desert, and the sea are types of biomes.

Jolie: they are from all around the world, and part of the reason they’re big is because they travel across the world, across the oceans, they more, they inhabit all lands.

Narrator: If a place or region is inhabited by a group of people or animals, they live there.

Example: These remote is lands are inhabited only by birds.

Jolie: In a way, they represent mother nature.

Narrator: Mother nature is away to refer to nature in general, especially when considered more figaratively as a force that controls the weather and living things.

Did you notice the connect speech (that is, how natives reduce and connect words) in what Angelina said here?

Jolie: In away, they represent mother nature.

Narrator: It is very common that we reduce prepisitions and articles.

So the preposition in + the article a almost always blend together into what sounds like one word: in a [innuh].

Check out these other examples from Friends.

A: It’s potpourri. You’re supposed to smell it.

B: well, that’s like summer innuh (in a) bowl.

C: look. I really need some help, okay?

Why? Why did I have to speak innuh (in a) British accent?

Jolie: In away, they represent mother nature.

But, in the biggest_ _ in the big forms, in the earth quakes, in the snowstorm…

Narrator: An earthquake is a sudden and violent shaking of the ground that occurs naturally due to Earth’s tectonic plates movements.

Jolie: And also in maybe, some other big, beautiful way, but as we all know mother nature can be obsolutely stunning and glorious.

Narrator: If something or somebody is considered stunning, it is shocking [Surprising] forbeing extermely beautiful/ attractive or simply impressive.

Example: The house has a stunning view of the lake.

A: No.

B: You look stunning in that hat.

A: Yes.

Narrator: Now we learn with a short clip from Angelina’s newest film.

Crow:Mistress!

Maleficent: what?

Crow: I have a little bit of news.

Maleficent: Well, on with it.

Crow: It’s nothing of any real conequence, and it’s certainly no reason to overreact, it’s just that Prince Philip has…

Maleficent: Disappeared?

Crow: No. No. Philip has…

Maleficent: Yellow fever? No, wait. Leprosy.

Crow: No, Mistress.

Prince Philip has asked Aurora if she’d become his…

Maleficent: Don’t… ruin my morning!

Crow:Mistress!

Maleficent: what?

Narrator: Mistress is a title given to a woman who has power or authority over other people or a place.

In the Maleficent movies, Maleficent rules the magical land and forest known as the Moors.

Crow: I have a little bit of news.

Maleficent: Well, on with it.

Narrator: To get on with something means to start or continue doing something (especially work).

Example: Stop talking and get on with it.

Bear: Now, let’s quit wasting time and get on with it.

Son: Get on with what?

Bear: Payback, kid. Payback.

Narrator: So when Maleficent says:

Maleficent: Well, on with it.

Narrator: She is simply reducing the expression, and turning it into a command, ordering Diaval to go ahead and tell her the news.

Crow: It’s nothing of any real consequence, and it’s certainly no reason to overreact,

Narrator: Something or someone of consequence is important or valuable.

Therefore, if something or someone is of no consequence, or of little consequence, they are not important or valuable.

A: You do realize that’s nuts [crazy], don’t you?

B: The sanity of the plan is of no consequence.

A: And why is that?

B: Because he can do it.

Narrator: So as Maleficent impatiently asks Diaval to share the news he is bringing, he responds that it is nothing important or valuable, and certainly no reason to overreact.

To overreact to something is to respond [react] to something in an overly excited, angry, or fearful way- that is, when you show more of an emotion than is necessary or appropriate.

A: Jane, stop the car!

B: Honey!

A: You’re overreacting!

A: You feel love for her!

B: No. That is not…

C: ok

That’s so she just told everyone your deepest, darkest secret!

B: Dude, come on!

I think you’re overreacting a little bit.

C: you must be so embarrassed!

Crow: It’s nothing of any real consequence, and it’s certainly no reason to overreact, it’s just that Prince Philip has…

Maleficent: Disappeared?

Crow: No. No. Philip has…

Maleficent: Yellow fever? No, wait. Leprosy.

Narrator: Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by an infected mosquito, common in certain regions of south American and Africa

Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, is a serious infectious disease that affects a person’s skin and nervouse system.

We can tell here that Maleficent does not care much for Prince Philip.

Based on what Diaval says, she is already expecting news that she won’t like.

So she tries to guess the rest of the sentence “Philip has by saying negative things, which to her would not be unpleasant [bad] news.

In fact, Diaval continues to tell her that Philip has asked Aurora to marry him, which will be very unpleasant news for Maleficent.

Prince Philip has asked Aurora if she’d become his…

Maleficent: Don’t… ruin my morning!

Narrator: To ruin is to spoil or destroy something completely.

A: He was going to ask your hand.

B: you’ve ruined the surprise!

C: I could strangle her!

B: Everyone went to so much effort to keep the secret.

Jolie: one of the things with fairy logic is fairies any thing in nature has a purpose.

And so, some water fairies, we know what they do a certain you know flowers, that uh are with the you know, the moss, or the tree bark, or the sunrise, or the snow, or the whatever it maybe.
